Welding and cutting cables
To minimise the effects of electromagnetic fields follow the fol-
lowing instructions:
- Where possible, roll and secure the earth and power cables
together.
- Avoid rolling the welding cables around your body.
- Avoid standing in between the earth and power cables (keep
both on the same side).
- The cables must be kept as short as possible, positioned near
one another and laid at or approximately at ground level.
- Position the system at some distance from the welding area.
- The cables must be far from any other cables.
Earthing the workpiece
When the workpiece is not earthed for electrical safety reasons
or due to its size and position, the earthing of the workpiece may
reduce the emissione. It is important to remember that the earth-
ing of the workpiece should neither increase the risk of accidents
for the operators, nor damage other electric equipment.
The earthing must be made according to the national regula-
tions.
Shielding
The selective shielding of other cables and equipment present
in the surrounding area may reduce the problems due to inter-
ference. The shielding of the entire welding (cutting) installation
can be taken in consideration for special applications.
2 INSTALLATION
Installation should be performed only by expert
personnel authorised by the manufacturer.
For installation, ensure that the power source is
disconnected from the mains.
2.1 Commissioning
Do not drop or exert undue pressure on the sy-
stem or individual unit.
Connection for MIG/MAG welding
- Disconnect the power supply from the power source.
- Connect the MIG torch to the fitting (C1), ensuring that the
fastening ring is fully tightened.
- Open the right-hand side cover.
- Check that the roller groove coincides with the diameter of
the wire you wish to use.
- Unscrew the ring nut (G1) from the coil reel and insert the
coil.
Insert also the reel pin, insert the coil, reposition the ring nut
(G1) and adjust the friction screw (G2).
- Release the wire feed support of the gearmotor (M1), sliding
the end of the wire into the wire guide bush and, pas-sing it
over the roller, into the torch fitting. Lock the feed support in
position, checking that the wire has entered the roller groove.
- To load the wire onto the torch, press the wire feed push-but-
ton.
- Connect the gas pipe on the rear rubber pipe coupling.
- Adjust the gas flow from 10 to 25 l/min.
