- Apply the 4298 UV activator to the cleaned surface of the rear bumper, to the entire area
around of the recess made, to a width of approx. 15 mm. Leave to dry for approx. 10 minutes.

- Clip the cover for the rear bumper (H) into the frame (G).
- Insert the set into the recess made in the rear bumper and carefully align it.
- Secure the aligned cover to the frame for the outside of the bumper using body adhesive
tape (see arrows) – this tape is not available in the set.

- Remove the protective sheet from the double-sided adhesive tape in the sequence shown
in the figure. This must be carried out with extreme care.

- Carefully press on the bonded frame along the entire length of the adhesive surface. Lay the
prepared bumper in a suitable place.
Fitting the tow bar to the vehicle

- Remove the seal caps from the recesses provided for attaching the tow bar to the rear
chassis rails (on both sides of the vehicle – see arrows). Treat the surface around the open-
ings with a corrosion protection agent in the same way as the points on the bodywork after
the bumper reinforcement bar was removed.
- If necessary, remove any Plastisol parts from the inside of the chassis rails.

- Insert the tow bar (A), along with the chassis rails, into the recesses in the vehicle cover
panel and adjust them so that the screw axes are located more or less in the middle of the
attachment recesses in the chassis rails.
- Loosely screw the bracket to the vehicle chassis using the four M10 x 35 fastening bolts (B).
Pull the tow bar backwards.
- Check that the tow bar is positioned correctly and tighten the bolts (alternately) on both
sides to 55 Nm ± 10% + 180° (see detail).
Note. New fastening bolts need to be used if the tow bar is removed
again or refitted.

- Check that the ball hitch (C) is correctly inserted into the mounting recess in the tow bar
bracket. Lock and unlock the ball hitch again using the key (D). Observe the instructions
about this in the Owner's Manual for the vehicle.
- Then remove the ball hitch from the mounting recess and place the protective cap (E) on the
towball. Store the ball hitch in the appropriate compartment of the toolbox in the vehicle's
luggage compartment.
- Insert the cover cap (F) into the mounting recess in the tow bar bracket.
