6.0 Tyre maintenance
Tyres
The Shark RS / RT is equipped with special
26'' tyres on the rear wheels and a 26'' drive
wheel. Make sure that they are always at the
recommended tyre pressure, as this will significantly
affect the drive characteristics of your Shark RS /
RT. If the tyre pressure is too low, movement and
manoeuvrability is made more difficult due to the
increased rolling resistance and this also increases
the amount of effort required.
The optimum tyre pressure is printed on each tyre.
Fitting and repairing tyres
Before fitting a new inner tube:
• Inspect the base of the rim and the tyre inner wall
for foreign bodies and if necessary
clean thoroughly.
• Check the condition of the rim tape, particularly at
the valve hole. Only well fitting,
strong rim tape offers long-term protection against
inner tube damage through burrs and
sharp spoke heads.
Inflation:
Check all round on both sides, to make sure that the
inner tube is not trapped between the tyre bead and
the rim. Push the valve back gently and pull it back
out, so that the inner tube achieves an optimum
position around the valve.
Tube tyres
As an option you can have tube tyres with full
carbon rims.
With these, please note:
Tube tyres must be glued to the rim by a specialist.
Should you have a puncture, you must not
continue to ride (the immediate consequences are
an increased risk of accident and the rim will be
destroyed).
CAUTION!
After fitting, check the tyre pressure.
It is essential that you maintain regulation tyre
pressure and keep the tyres in perfect condition,
in order to ensure your personal safety and keep
your Shark RS / RT running properly.

7.0.0 Disposal / Recycling of Materials
NOTE: If the hand bike has been made available to
you as part of a charity or medical loans scheme,
then it may not belong to you. If it is no longer
required, then follow the instructions to return it as
given by the organisation that made the hand bike
available to you.
In the following section, there is a description of
the materials used on the hand bike, in view of
the disposal or recycling of the hand bike and its
packaging.
There may also be special local regulations in
force with regard to disposal or recycling, these
must be taken into account when disposing of
your hand bike. (This can include the cleaning or
decontamination of the hand bike prior to disposal).
Aluminium: Castor Forks, wheels, footrest,
Steel: Fixing points,
Carbon: Rear axle
Plastic: Handles, tube stoppers, armpads and tyres
Packaging: Made of soft polyethylene, cardboard
Upholstery: Woven polyester with PVC coatings
and expanded combustion modified foam.
Disposal or recycling should be done through a
licensed agent or authorised place of disposal.
Alternatively your hand bike may be returned to your
dealer for disposal.
Hygiene measures when being re-used:
Prior to the wheelchair being re-used, it must
be carefully prepared. All surfaces which come
into contact with the user must be treated with a
disinfection spray.
To do this, you must use a disinfectant as
authorised/recommended in your country, for rapid
alcohol-based disinfection for medical products and
medical devices, which must be disinfected quickly.
Please be aware of the manufacturer's instructions
for the disinfectant you are using.
In general, a complete disinfection cannot be
guaranteed on seams. We therefore recommend
that you dispose of seat and back slings to avoid
micro-bacterial contamination with active agents
according to your local infection protection law.
