17. Troubleshooting
Problem
The sprayer does not turn
on.
Little or no material flow.
The spray tip leaks.
Material leaking
Atomization is too coarse.
Pattern runs or sags.
Too much over-spray.
Pattern is very light and
blotchy.
Spluttering paint.
Suction Hose (11) not
sucking up water when
cleaning the unit.

Possible Cause
The mains power lead is not plugged in.
No power is coming from the mains
power outlet.
The extension cord is damaged or has
too low capacity.
The sprayer shuts of while under pres-
sure.
Spray tip (5) is clogged.
Suction hose is clogged.
Pressure control dial (9) turned too low.
Suction hose is too loose.
Suction hose mesh filter (13) clogged.
The nozzle guard nut (4) is loose.
Spray tip (5) was assembled incorrectly. Remove and assemble correctly.
Spray tip (5) is worn.
Nozzle guard (4) is loose.
Spray tip (5) is worn.
Seal inside the nozzle guard (4) is worn. Replace the sealing (28).
Material building up spray tip (5) and

Action
Plug the mains power lead into a mains power
outlet.
Properly test the power supply voltage.
Replace the extension cord with a suitable
voltage.
Motor will cycle On and Off while spraying to
regulate pressure. This is normal.
Clean spray tip (5) using cleaning pin.
Clean suction hose (11).
Increase pressure dial control dial (9) setting by
turning the dial clockwise.
Re-adjust the suction hose (11) to the suction
hose inlet port (15) and use a flathead screw-
driver to tighten the screw on the metal hose
clamp suction hose inlet port (16).
Clean or replace. Use the appropriate cleaning
solution depending on the material used.
Tighten the nozzle guard nut (4).
Replace the spray tip /5).
Tighten the nozzle guard (4).
Replace the spray tip (5).
Clean spray tip (5) and nozzle guard (4) by us-
ing the appropriate cleaning solution depending
on the material used.
Decrease pressure control dial (9) setting.
Clean.
Clean or replace.
Adjust pressure control dial (9) or increase
movement of spray gun (6).
Reduce distance.
Decrease Pressure control dial (9) setting.
Adjust pressure control dial (9) or decrease
movement of spray gun (6).
Perform "priming the pump" steps.
Using the appropriate cleaning solution in place
of material, perform the "priming the pump"
steps.
