Before first use
Inserting or replacing the batteries
1. Remove the battery cover.
2. If present, remove the empty batteries.
3. Install 2 D-sized alkaline batteries
(fig. 1, page 3).
4. Put the battery cover back on.
Installing or replacing the sensor
The sensor is not pre-installed.
1. Remove the sensor cover by lifting it at
the outer edge.
!
CAUTION! Hot surface
When replacing an old sensor, it may
still be hot from previous usage.
2. If present, pull the old sensor out of the
sensor socket.

NOTICE! Damage hazard
Do not apply excessive force to avoid
bending the sensor leads.
3. Align the sensor leads with the holes on
the sensor socket and gently press down
the sensor (fig. 2, page 3).
4. Re-insert the sensor cover and press it
down around the edges.

Operation
Switching on

NOTE
The device requires some warm-up
time before it is ready for operation.
➤Press and hold the control button to turn the
device on.
The 3 LEDs indicate the operating status
(see table, page 5).
✔ The device is ready for operation when a
beep sounds and the HIGH or LOW LED
start flashing.
Switching off
➤Press and hold the control button to turn the
device off.
✔ All LEDs turn off.
Changing the sensitivity setting
➤Press the control button briefly to switch
between the high or low sensitivity settings.
✔ The HIGH or LOW LED is flashing respec-
tively.
Testing for refrigerant leaks
Observe the following notes when testing for
refrigerant leaks:
• Only use the device on systems with suffi-
cient refrigerant and their engines not in
operation.
• Affecting the airflow around the sensor
probe can lead to false refrigerant leak
detection.
Avoid quick or sudden movement of the
device as well as windy conditions during
operation.
1. Place the tip of the sensor probe within
5 mm of the suspected refrigerant leak.
2. Slowly (25-50 mm/s) move the sensor
probe past each suspected refrigerant
leak.
✔ If a refrigerant leak is detected, the device
emits an audible signal and the LED flashes
more rapidly.
