Change Engine Oil
Accidental start-up. Disconnect spark

plug wires when working on unit. Fail-
ure to do so could result in death or serious injury.

When using generator under extreme, dirty, dusty condi-
tions, or in extremely hot weather, change oil more fre-
quently.
Don't pollute. Conserve resources.
NOTICE:
Return used oil to collection centers.
Change oil while engine is still warm from running, as fol-
lows:
Place generator on a level surface.

Remove screws (A) and side cover. Slide off spark plug

cover (B).
Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug and

place the wire where it cannot contact spark plug.
Clean area around oil fill and oil drain plug.
4.
Remove oil fill cap and wipe dipstick clean.
5.
Tip unit and drain oil completely into a suitable container.

Once oil is sufficiently drained from unit, tip unit back to a

level position.
Insert funnel into oil fill opening. Add recommended engine
8.
oil as necessary.
To check oil level, remove funnel and insert dipstick into oil
9.
filler neck without screwing it in.
Remove dipstick and verify oil level is within safe operating
10.
range.
Verify oil level often during filling process
NOTICE:
to ensure overfilling does not occur.
Replace oil fill cap and hand-tighten.

Wipe up any spilled oil.

Connect spark plug wire.

Replace side cover and screws.

Properly dispose of oil in accordance with all applicable reg-

ulations.
Air Filter
Engine will not run properly and may be damaged if run
with a dirty air filter. Service air filter more frequently in
dirty or dusty conditions.
To service air filter:
Remove screws and side cover.

Unscrew bolt (A) and remove air filter cover.
2.
Wash filter (B) in soapy water. Squeeze dry in clean cloth
3.
(DO NOT TWIST).
Clean air filter cover before installation.
4.
Replace side cover and screws.

Service Spark Plug
To service spark plug:
Clean area around spark plug.
1.
Remove and inspect spark plug.
2.
Inspect electrode gap with feeler gauge and reset spark
3.
plug gap to 0.024 - 0.028 in (0.6 - 0.7 mm).

ONLY recommended replacement plug. See
Specifications.
Install spark plug finger tight, and tighten an additional 3/8

to 1/2 turn using spark plug wrench.
To order a new air filter, contact the near-
est Service Center.
Replace spark plug if electrodes are pit-
ted, burned or porcelain is cracked. Use
