12. Troubleshooting
Malfunction

The round/flat fan
control is not work-
ing – control can be
turned.
Round/flat fan con-
trol cannot be regu-
lated.
Cause
Fluid tip not properly
tightened.
Air distribution ring
soiled or damaged.
Loose air cap.
Gap between air
cap and fluid tip is
clogged.
Nozzle set is soiled.
Damaged nozzle set. Replace the nozzle
Material flow pres-
sure not constant.
Air cap hole clogged
with paint.
Damaged fluid tip
(fluid tip aperture).
Air distribution ring
not correctly posi-
tioned (pin not in
hole) or damaged.
The round/flat fan
control has been
turned counterclock-
wise over the limit;
the spindle is loose
in the gun thread.
Corrective Action
Tighten fluid tip with
universal spanner.
Replace the air dis-
tribution ring (see
chapter 9.2).
Tighten air cap ring
by hand.
Clean gap.
Clean nozzle set.

Check material flow
pressure.
Clean the air cap
(see chapter 9.1).
Check the fluid tip
for damage. Replace
the nozzle set if nec-
essary (see chapter
9.1).
Replace the air dis-
tribution ring (see
chapter
9.2).
Unscrew the round/
flat fan control using
the universal span-
ner and make it work
again or replace
it completely (see
chapter 9.4).
