10. Operation

m Attention!
Always make sure the device is fully assembled
before commissioning!
Oscillation rate
Before starting work, set the oscillation rate to suit the
application. Use a low oscillation rate for coarse grind-
ing work, increase the oscillation rate for fine work.
1.
Adjust the oscillation rate by turning the setting
wheel (6). Turn to the right to reduce the oscillation
rate (Fig. 9).
2.
Turn to the left to increase the oscillation rate (Fig.
10).
Switching on/off
Switching on:
Press the ON/OFF switch (4)
Continuous operation: (Fig. 11)
Secure the ON/OFF switch (4) with the locking knob
(A).
Switching off:
Press in the ON/OFF switch (4) briefly.
Note: The tool attachment continues to rotate a little
after it has been switched off. Wait until the tool at-
tachment has come to a standstill before putting the
electric tool down.
Grinding
1.
Attach a suitable sanding sheet and select a suit-
able speed.
2.
Hold the electric tool securely by the gripping sur-
faces (1, 5) and switch it on as described.
3.
Wait until the tool attachment has reached its full
working speed.
4.
Apply some pressure on the grinding head (11/12)
to bring the tool attachment into contact with the
surface to be worked.
5.
Move the electric tool over the surface with even
movements.
Note: Do not hold the electric tool in one place for too
long to avoid uneven sanding results.
6.
Lift the grinding plate from the surface to be
worked on before switching off the electric tool.
7.
Wait until the tool attachment has come to a stand-
still before putting the electric tool down.
Fastening/changing the grinding head
(Fig. 12, 13)
Before carrying out any work on the electric tool, dis-
connect the mains plug.
To fasten:
1.
Press the locking knob on the side of the tool;
2.
Place the tool on the grinding head and turn it to
the correct position;
3.
Release the locking knob so that the latches snap
into place.
To change: Press the locking knob on the grinding
head of the tool and remove the grinding head. The
triangular grinding head is attached/changed in the
same way. When inserting the new grinding head,
make sure that the catches engage correctly.

11. Electrical connection

The electrical motor installed is connected and ready
for operation. The connection complies with the appli-
cable VDE and DIN provisions.
The customer's mains connection as well as the ex-
tension cable used must also comply with these reg-
ulations.
Damaged electrical connection cable
The insulation on electrical connection cables is often
damaged.
This may have the following causes:
• Pressure points, where connection cables are
passed through windows or doors.
• Kinks where the connection cable has been improp-
erly fastened or routed.
• Places where the connection cables have been cut
due to being driven over.
• Insulation damage due to being ripped out of the wall
outlet.
• Cracks due to the insulation ageing.
Such damaged electrical connection cables must not
be used and are life-threatening due to the insulation
damage.
Check the electrical connection cables for damage
regularly. Ensure that the connection cables are dis-
connected from electrical power when checking for
damage.
