Caution
Overloading the luggage system can im-
pair the driving stability of your motorcy-
cle. When driving with the Topcase, a
maximum speed of 112 mph (180 km/h)
applies.

Warning
The Topcase can be loaded with a maxi-
mum of 11 lbs (5 kg). For safety reasons,
heavy objects should be stowed at the
bottom.

Caution
Please check the proper, secure attach-
ment of the Topcase and the luggage
rack, as well as their firm seating each
time before driving off.

Note
Only clean the Topcase with a mild soap
solution and a soft sponge. Never use
gasoline or other solvents.

Note
After BMW optional accessories are in-
stalled/removed by a workshop, present
the related installation instructions to the
customer. Only pass on the optional ac-
cessories to others together with these
installation instructions.

Install lock barrel

Caution
Never pull the key out of the removed
lock barrel, as otherwise the locking
plate would jump out of the barrel.
The mounts
for the lock barrels are marked for
the key positions "OPEN", "LOCK" and "RELEASE".
The lock barrel
must face toward the
"RELEASE" position with the retaining plate

when inserting.
After installing the lock barrel, turn the key clock-
wise until the retaining plate engages.
Open/close Topcase

Open Topcase
Turn the key of the Topcase counterclockwise; the
key is in the "OPEN" position
In this position, press on the key or the lock
barrel
until the locking lever

become visible.
Then pull the locking lever
