Resistance Measurement

Do not connect the meter to a source of voltage or current when the
range selector is in an Ω position. Electric shock can result.
Failure to observe this warning may result in serious injury or death.
Do not change the position of the selector switch when the test leads
are connected to a component or circuit. Damage to the meter can
result.
1. Shut off and disconnect the power. Make sure all capacitors are discharged. Voltage must
not be present.
2. Plug the black test lead into the COM input terminal, and plug the red test lead into the
V/
input terminal.
3. Set the selector switch to the lowest resistance range (200 Ω).
4. Touch the test lead tips together. The meter should display "0". If the meter does not
display a "0", make a note of the reading.
5. Set range selector to the appropriate resistance range.
Note: If measuring an unknown resistance, set the range selector to the 20M range.
6. Touch the test leads to the component under test and read the display.
Note: For a total resistance of 0.5 megohms or more, allow several seconds for the display to
stabilize.
7. Subtract the value obtained in step 4 from the reading on the display to find the actual
resistance.
