Operation
Power supply
Actuate the power switch (1, Fig. 5) of the power supply to switch it
on.
Afterwards, turn on the brightness control (2, Fig. 23) on the
instrument base. No slit light in the left final position, in the right
final position corresponds to the maximum illumination intensity.
Patienten positionieren
Adjust the patient's seat height as required.
If possible, adjust the table height in such way, that the patient is
slightly leaning forward. Thus, a stable rest of the patient's chin and
forehead is achieved. For the same reason, one may move the
patient's seat slightly away from the instrument or set it higher.
Adjust the chin rest (6, Fig. 23) vertically until the patient's eyes are
7
approximately level with the red ring marks (7, Fig. 23).
6
Turn the joystick (1, Fig. 23) to set the slit lamp to mid-position of the
vertical adjustment range (red mark (3, Fig. 23).

General notes on instrument operation

Choose a slit length that only illuminates that section of the eye
which is to be examined. Otherwise, sections of high reflectance (e.g.
sclera) may be illuminated, thus causing disturbing glare.
Turn the filter wheel (4, Fig. 23) to choose a filter as required.
For retroillumination, set the illumination angle as small as possible
and slightly decentre the illumination by means of control (5, Fig. 23).
When using the tonometer, we recommend one looks with the right
eye through the left eyepiece while observing the patient with the
left eye.
The use of either convergent or parallel viewing path depends on
your choice.
