Double looped attachment method
The double looped attachment method offers greater
safety for loose bundles because of additionally looping
the load. The determination of the carrying capacity of
suspension gears requires particular attention for this
attachment method. For example, the carrying capacity
of a single-leg suspension gear remains unchanged
when the hook is hooked into the suspension ring
following looping. On the other hand, if the ring is
hooked into the crane hook after the looping in the case
of a single-leg ring chain, this results in the carrying
capacity of a two-leg suspension.

4.2 Further Limits of use

Chain slings must not be used outside of the listed
temperature ranges. Chain slings that accidentally reach
temperatures higher than the specified temperature
must be taken out of service.
PFEIFER chain slings and accessories are designed for
20,000 load changes. Nevertheless, for high dynamic
loads there is the risk that chains or components will be
damaged. In this case, increase by at least one nominal
chain thickness is required – consult with PFEIFER
company.
When used as load magnet chain slings (electro-magnets):
increase by at least one nominal chain thickness – consult
with PFEIFER company.
If not all single legs of a chain sling are being used at
one time, the specified carrying capacity on the WLL
identification tag will not be applicable. The permissible
load should be taken from the carrying capacity table
depending on the chain dimensions, the number of legs
used and the quality grade. Under no circumstances
must a chain sling be loaded above the working load
limit specified on the tag. Single legs that are not being
used should be hooked back to the suspension link, to
prevent danger caused by free swinging or unintentional
hooking.
In the case of asymmetrical loads, i.e. when not all
chain legs are symmetrically arranged and have the
same angle of inclination, the load is considered to be
asymmetrical and not uniformly distributed to all chain
legs. In this case, the determination of the permissible
load and the lifting procedure should be made by a
qualified person. The number of load-bearing chain legs
can be taken from the carrying capacity tables and
DGUV rule 100-500 as well as from applicable
country-specific regulations.
