Assembly
Warning! Before assembly, remove the battery (10) from the
tool.
Fitting and removing the battery (fig. A)
To fit the battery (10), line it up with the receptacle on the
u
tool. Slide the battery (10) into the receptacle and push
until the battery (10) snaps into place.
To remove the battery (10), push the release button (24)
u
while at the same time pulling the battery (10) out of the
receptacle.
Warning! To prevent accidental operation, make sure that
the battery is removed and that the chain sheath (11) is in
place on the saw chain (8) before performing the following
operations. Failure to do this could result in serious personal
injury.
Charging the battery (fig. B)
The battery needs to be charged before first use and
whenever it fails to produce sufficient power on jobs that were
easily done before. The battery may become warm while
charging; this is normal and does not indicate a problem.
Warning! Do not charge the battery at ambient temperatures
below 10 °C or above 40 °C. Recommended charging
temperature: approx. 24 °C.
Note: The charger will not charge a battery if the cell
temperature is below approximately 10 °C or above
40 °C. The battery should be left in the charger and the
charger will begin to charge automatically when the cell
temperature warms up or cools down.
To charge the battery (10), insert it into the charger (12).
u
The battery will only fit into the charger in one way. Do
not force. Be sure that the battery is fully seated in the
charger.
Plug in the charger and switch on at the mains.
u
The charging indicator (23) will blink.
The charge is complete when the charging indicator (23)
(Original instructions)
switches to continuously on. The charger and the battery can
be left connected indefinetely. The LED will switch on as the
charger occasionally tops up the battery charge.
Charge discharged batteries within 1 week. Battery life will
u
be greatly diminished if stored in a discharged state.
Leaving the battery in the charger
The charger and battery pack can be left connected with the
LED glowing indefinitely. The charger will keep the battery
pack fresh and fully charged.
Installing and removing the saw chain
(fig. C–E, G)
Always wear protective gloves when installing
or removing the saw chain (8). The saw chain is
sharp and can cut you when it is not running.
Place the tool on a firm and stable surface.
u
Loosen the two Allen screws (14) using the Allen key (21)
u
provided. Remove the Allen screws (14).
Remove the chain cover assembly (6).
u
Turn the chain tension adjustment screw (7) counter
u
clockwise to allow the guide bar (9) to recede and to
reduce the tension on the saw chain (8).
Remove the old saw chain (8) from the sprocket (15) and
u
the guide bar (9).
Place the new saw chain (8) in the groove of the guide bar
u
(9) and around the sprocket (15). Make sure that the teeth
are facing the correct direction by matching the arrow
on the saw chain (8) with the arrow on the chain cover
assembly (6).
Make sure that the slot (17) in the guide bar (9) is over the
u
location pins (18) and that the hole (20) below the slot is
located over the adjustment pin (19).
Fit the chain cover assembly (6) and the 2 Allen screws
u
(14).
Tighten the Allen screws (14) using the Allen key (21)
u
provided.
Adjust the chain tension as described below.
u
Checking and adjusting the chain tension
(fig. C–F)
Check the saw chain tension. The tension is correct
u
when the saw chain (8) snaps back after being pulled
away 3 mm from the guide bar (9) with light force from
the middle finger and thumb. There should be no 'sag'
between the guide bar (9) and the saw chain (8) on the
underside.
To adjust the tension:
Loosen the 2 Allen screws (14).
u
Turn the chain tension adjustment screw (7) clockwise.
