This MD deck is in compliance with the
Serial Copy Management System standard.
This standard has been elaborated to
restrict digital-to-digital copying to only the
first generation. The basic rules governing
this system are as described in the
following.

A digital recording is possible from a digital
source such as a CD, DAT or pre-mastered
MD onto a DAT or recordable MD through a
digital input connection. However, further
digital-to-digital recording is prohibited for
the second generation and later.

disc or FM broadcast is digitally recorded
by using a DAT or MD, this recorded source
can be digitally recorded on another DAT or

A DAT deck or an MD deck which is
compatible with 32 kHz and 48 kHz sampling
frequencies can record the digital audio of
satellite broadcasting digitally (digital-to-
digital). A first-generation DAT or MD
recorded in this way can be recorded again
on another DAT or MD digitally (digital-to-
digital). However, the second-generation
DAT or MD may not be recordable with
certain BS tuner models.
