This kit contains parts and materials to raise the height of the exhaust outlets by 3 inches (76 mm).

CAUTION! Be sure to follow the instructions
provided with the gasket kit (PN 3863191) for
correct torque specifications on screws and
for surface preparation details when install-
ing the gasket.
WARNING! To prevent sparks which may ig-
nite gas fumes, disconnect all power sources
before proceeding with the installation.
WARNING! This installation should NOT be
done on boats/engines that are in the water.
Loosening the exhaust system hoses while
the boat is in the water may cause engine
compartment flooding and/or sink the boat.
1. Be sure to follow the instructions provided with the gasket kit (PN 3863191) for correct torque specifications on screws
and for surface preparation details when installing the gasket.

TOOLS NEEDED

Workshop Manual, Engine Components
•
Standard and metric combination wrench set
•
Standard and metric socket set
•
1/2" Deep socket
•
Torque wrench
•
Screwdriver or nut-drivers
•
Volvo sealing compound 1141570 or equivalent
•
Exhaust hose, 2 ea., 3.5" ID x 9" (230mm) long
NOTE! The lower exhaust hoses needed to complete
the installation are NOT included in the kit and
must be obtained separately. Use Volvo Penta
PN 828729 (sold by the meter) or equivalent
3.5" ID reinforced marine grade exhaust hose.
REMOVAL
NOTE! This kit and instructions cover multiple specifi-
cations of V6 and V8 engines. Before removing
the risers, note the position and attaching hard-
ware of all components mounted to the risers.
Note the location and position of all wires, hos-
es and parts attached to these components.
NOTE! These will be re-installed in the same position
with the same hardware. In most cases it will
not be necessary to remove these items from
the engine, disconnect them from the riser and
secure them out of the way until reinstalled.
Retain all hardware and materials unless in-
structed to discard.
