Sizing
SI-770 Series interceptors are sized according to the maximum anticipated incom-
ing flow rate in gallons per minute (GPM). The solids interceptor flow rate should
match the flow rate of the downstream grease interceptor.
Placement & Installation
SI-770 interceptors are installed on a fixture's discharge piping line, immediately
prior to a grease interceptor. They can be installed on the floor or recessed in a
minimum 4" concrete slab. Recessed installations may require an extension to meet
the below grade piping (see Extensions).
Solid interceptors are supplied with no hub inlet and outlet piping connections.
Connections to the piping system are made with a suitable no hub or transition
coupling (by others). A solids interceptor does not form a water trap; fixtures should
be trapped as required by local code.
Maintenance
Solids interceptors should be serviced regularly to maintain efficiency. Cleaning
should be performed prior to the basket becoming full or clogged. The frequency of
cleaning required is dependent upon the amount of incoming debris.
To clean the interceptor, loosen the cover bolt and remove the cover. Lift out the
internal basket and empty the contents. Remove any additional debris which may
have accumulated inside the interceptor. Inspect the cover gasket for damage or
potential leak points. Replace the basket and cover.
Extensions
An interceptor extension is used to effectively lower the level of an interceptor's
inlet and outlet, enabling piping connections further below grade. Extensions are
commonly required for recessed interceptor installations to accommodate the fall in
long piping runs, or ensure an interceptor's static water line remains below the local
frost line.
