SA & ST Series Sizing
Watts SA and ST Series interceptors are sized according to the maximum anticipat-
ed incoming flow rate in gallons per minute (GPM).
SA & ST Series Placement & Installation
SA and ST Series interceptors are designed to be installed on-grade, poured in a
minimum 4" concrete slab. Installation may require an extension to meet the below
grade piping (see Extensions).
Sand interceptors are supplied with no hub inlet and outlet piping connections.
Make connections to the piping system with a suitable no hub or transition coupling
(by others). SA and ST Series interceptors are manufactured with an internal trap
on the outlet side. Consult local plumbing codes for trapping requirements prior to
installation.
SA Series interceptors are supplied with multiple 2" no hub vent connections, for
connection to vent piping with suitable no hub or transition couplings (by others).
Unused vent connections may be capped off.
Maintenance
Cleaning should be performed periodically to avoid an over accumulation of
sediment, and maintain the efficiency of the interceptor. The required frequency of
cleaning is dependent upon the volume of incoming sediment.
To clean the interceptor, remove the cover or top grate. Collect and remove any
sediment that has accumulated at the bottom of the interceptor. Clean any addition-
al debris from the inside of the interceptor, and ensure the inlet and outlet are clear.
Replace cover or top grate.

Function
Watts SI-740-M, SI-742, SI-742L, and SI-762 Sediment Interceptors typically
service utility washdown sinks, with one interceptor installed for each fixture. SI-
800 Series Interceptors may be installed further downstream and service multiple
fixtures. A perforated basket removes debris and heavier-than-water sediment from
the wastewater stream as it passes through the interceptor.
