SI-740-M, SI-742, SI-742-L, SI-762 & SI-800 Series Sizing
There are no sizing requirements for SI-740-M, SI-742, SI-742L, & SI-762 intercep-
tors. SI-800 Series interceptors are sized by fixture capacity or incoming flow rate.
Placement & Installation
Sediment interceptors should be installed on a discharge piping line, adjacent to the
fixture served. Sediment interceptors create a functional water trap, so a separate
fixture trap is typically not required.
Pipe connections are either IPS or no hub. Make IPS connections with an IPS nip-
ple (by others) corresponding to the interceptor's connection size; no hub connec-
tions are made with a suitable no hub or transition coupling (by others).
Maintenance
Sediment interceptors should be serviced regularly to maintain efficiency. Clean the
interceptor prior to the basket becoming full or clogged. The frequency of cleaning
required is dependent upon the amount of incoming debris.
For SI-740-M, SI-742, SI-742L and SI-800 top access interceptors loosen the
cover handle/bolt and remove the cover. Lift out the internal basket and empty the
contents. Remove any additional debris which may have accumulated inside the
interceptor. Replace the basket, ensuring the inlet hole in the basket is aligned with
the interceptor inlet connection. Inspect the cover gasket for damage or potential
leak points before replacing the cover.
For SI-762 bottom access interceptors, prior to cleaning, place a bucket below
the interceptor. Loosen the cover bolts with an appropriate socket or open end
wrench. As the cover is removed, the internal basket is likely to drop down from
the interceptor. Remove the basket and empty the contents. Wipe the inside of the
interceptor to remove any additional debris. Inspect the cover gasket for damage
or potential leak points before replacing the cover. Replace the basket and cover,
ensuring the inlet hole in the basket is aligned with the interceptor inlet connection.
Solids Interceptor SI-770 Series
Function
Watts SI-770 Series Solids Interceptors are specified to separate food waste
from sinks, dishwashers, and grinders. Solids interceptors work in conjunction
with grease interceptors, removing heavy food waste that can negatively impact a
grease interceptor's separation efficiency.
