5 • INSTALLATION
NoTE: Please refer to the smoke detector's instructions.
NOTE:
• Avoid damp environments and extreme temperatures (fig 3).
• Please note that metal surfaces and walls containing metals can significantly impede or reflect the
radio signals (fig 4).
• Maintain a minimum distance of 1 m between the radio modules and PRoTECToR Control Panel
during installation (fig 5).
• Maintain a minimum distance of 1 m from major appliances (fig 6).
• Select an installation location in accordance with the instructions for the smoke detector.
Install the radio modules on the ceiling. The radio range is greatest in the direction of the marking
on the housing of the radio module (fig. 7).
• Insert the radio module's three-pin connector (fig. 1.3) into the bottom of the smoke detector (fig. 2).
• Place the smoke detector onto the installed radio module and carefully turn it in a clockwise
direction until it clicks into place. The two markings on the housing of the radio module and the
smoke detector must align (fig. 7). If no battery is inserted in the smoke detector, it cannot be
locked into place on the radio module.
NoTE: Make sure that the connecting wires lead directly from the edge of the housing to the
three-pin connector on the radio module and not over the circuit board of the radio module.
• After installing all the radio modules and smoke detectors, carry out a function test by pressing
the test button on each smoke detectors until three alarm tones sound. For further information
please refer to the instructions for the smoke detector. The radio modules and smoke detectors in
the same radio group will also sound an acoustic alarm automatically before returning to normal
mode after a short period of time. If a detector forwards an OFF signal, it will acknowledge this
with three short tones. See the OPERATION/TEST section.
