Unsafe operating states resulting from software manipulation
Software manipulations (e g. Trojans, viruses, malware or worms) can cause unsafe operating states in your system
that may lead to death, serious injury, and property damage. To prevent these states:

Always keep the software up to date.
•
Incorporate the automation and drive components into a holistic, state-of-the-art industrial security concept for
the installation or machine. Make sure that you include all installed products into the holistic industrial security
concept.
•
Protect files stored on exchangeable storage media from malicious software by with suitable protection measures,
e.g. virus scanners.
4.1 Safety information
Laser safety
CAUTION
Permanent eye damage
Looking directly or indirectly into the laser beam through telescopic optics can lead to permanent eye damage.
To prevent this
•
the space between the sensors should be in a closed environment when the device is in operation.
CAUTION
Unsafe laser emissions
Any opening or removal of device parts would lead to a degraded usage of the device for which then laser class 1 is
not any longer guaranteed. Besides that degraded conditions could lead to eyes injuries.
To prevent this
•
any device modification by the customer is not allowed.
•
any maintenance operation of the device shall be performed only by technicians trained to laser safety.
•
personnel operating the device or working in its direct environment should be trained to laser safety.
SITRANS SL is classified as a class 1 laser product. The emitted laser light is invisible (near infrared) and not
hazardous to the unprotected eye. SITRANS SL has warning labels at appropriate positions according to EN 60825-
1:2007.
Following commissioning, the total responsibility is with the owner.
