• Then perform a leak test of the kit of leakage detection by slowly opening the opening valve
1 and paying attention to escaping gas (if required, use leakage detection spray).
• If the leakage detection kit is tight, adapt the quick action coupling to the empty air
conditioning system. Open the turning valve of the quick action coupling. Then the system is
filled with nitrogen to the pressure which is preset on the manometer.
• If the system is filled, close the bottle valve and observe the pressure loss, (for at least 30
min.) Localize hissing noises and spray leakage detection spray onto the hoses, in order
to detect leakages (formation of bubbles).
• After performing the leakage detection carefully !!! drain the gas into the atmosphere via the
second service connection (second service coupling) or by carefully !! detaching (not
unscrewing!) the hose connection.
• CAUTION! System is under high pressure! When draining the nitrogen via the hose firmly
hold the hose during the draining process. If the hose is released it strikes out whip-like and
might cause considerable injuries.
• Before filling the air conditioning system with refrigerant again evacuate and vacuum the
system in order to remove possible nitrogen remainders.
3. Leakage detection kit of forming gas
Item overview
Kit of leakage detection of forming gas 5380 P1
1. 5380 690 service coupling ND blue
2. 5380 606 AC hose blue 3m
3. 5380 155 bottle trolley for 10l gas bottles
4. 5380 161 leakage detector for forming gas
5. 5380 162 pressure reducer for forming gas 20
bars
! Important !
The air conditioning system must be completely empty (depressurized) before filling it with
forming gas.
Manually open possibly existing solenoid valves, by supplying them via the on-board voltage.
This way, it is possible to make sure that the forming gas also attains these areas of the air
conditioning system
• The basic procedure is the same as for the nitrogen leakage detection.
• The adaptor included in the delivery is only applied. Screw the adaptor tight on the
corresponding connections on the manometer. Imperatively use an appropriate sealing tape
(e.g. Teflon) or a liquid gas sealant.
• Connect the pressure reducer to the forming gas bottle (left-hand thread). Make sure that the
white washer is applied and that the fastening nut is firmly seated.
• Make sure that the twist grip showing downward is turned completely to the left
(anticlockwise) before the first commissioning and that the opening valve 1 is closed
(completely turned clockwise to the right). This way the outlet pressure (manometer on the
right) is depressurized.
• Connect the blue refrigerant hose included in the delivery to the adaptor mounted below the
manometer on the right and connect the other end of the hose to the LP quick-action coupling
included in the delivery
• Then open the bottle valve.
• After opening the bottle valve the left manometer indicates the pressure of the bottle.
• Then slowly adjust the outlet pressure by turning the twist grip (pressure regulator) showing
downward (pressure regulator) to the corresponding working pressure (clockwise = increasing
pressure).
• Then perform a leak test of the kit of leakage detection by slowly opening the opening valve
1 and paying attention to escaping gas (use leakage detection spray).
• If the leakage detection kit is tight, adapt the quick action coupling to the empty air
conditioning system.
Open the turning valve of the quick action coupling. Then the system is filled with nitrogen to
the pressure which is preset on the manometer.
