Photo 67. Glue the axle supports 151 to the bases 150. Make sure that they are perpendicular to the base.
Use fast-acting glue and paint them matt black. Fit the axles 152 between the support and attach the
wheels 153 under pressure but without turning them. They must come up against the axles 152. Glue
the pieces 153a against the wheels 153. Paint the chassis black and fit the sets of wheels in place but do
not glue them. They must only be held in place by the screws 154. The wheels can be replaced if
necessary.
Photo 68. Glue the bushes 155 along the side of the chassis. Glue the springs 156 into the slots left for
them in the chassis reinforcement 146. Paint the bush assembly and the end reinforcements steel colour
and the central nameplate gold. Place the chassis on the bases and use the washers 157 and screws
154 to attach them. Do not overtighten so that the chassis can still move.
Photo 69. Glue the steps 159 to the supports 158. Assemble two steps for the right side and another two
on the left side. Use fast-acting glue. Paint the steps black.
Photo 70. Glue the steps into the slots in the beam reinforcements. These must be aligned with the
reinforcements. Sand parts 160 down, paint them black and glue them in place aligning the holes as
shown in the photo. Use fast-acting glue.
Photo 71. Paint the side access rails 161 black and the top hinge red. If necessary adjust the holes in the
front so that these parts can be fitted and glued in place. Use fast-acting glue.
Photo 72. When you have painted the front and back rails 162 black, glue on the parts 163, 164 and 165,
having painted them in the indicated colours. Make up two assemblies just the same. Use fast-acting
glue.
Photo 73. Glue the front and back rails onto the side rails and the platforms. Fit and glue the signalling
supports 167 and 168 onto the rail and into the holes in the roof. Also glue on the adornments 166. Paint
all the parts before attaching them. Use fast-acting glue.
Photo 74. Use the brass wire to make up the bar 171. Make up the hooks using the parts 175, 176, 177,
178 and 179. Paint all of these parts in the colours indicated in the photo before gluing them in place.
The supports 170 slot into the front and back reinforcements. Pay particular attention to the buffers 173
and 174, as two are for the left side and two for the right side. Put together the assembly shown at both
ends of the carriage. Use fast-acting glue.
Photo 75. Cut two sections of netting 180 and glue them to the gangways 181 and then trim off any
excess. Add pieces of the strip 182 and paint the whole piece black. Put together the coupling
assemblies using the parts 183, 184, 185 and 186. Paint the assembly black and golden. Glue the
gangways into the reinforcement slots. If necessary remake the holes in which to glue the hinges 185.
Use fast-acting glue.
Photo 76. Stain and glue lengths of strip 188 and fit the brackets 187, already painted. Fit them into place as shown
in the photo. Make up the position lights using the eyebolts 175 and a piece of brass wire 189. Bend the
eyebolts as shown in the photo, paint them and glue them onto the signalling bar. Use fast-acting glue.
Photo 77. Cut out all of the registration numbers shown from the decorations sheet and glue them into place on both
sides of the carriage. Before attaching them take points of reference to locate where they are to be
attached.
