Operation
!
The cable lengths and the cable cross section
of the charger's cable must not be altered in
any way. The original battery charger cable
must always be connected.
Before connecting the battery charger to
the mains supply, switch the mains switch
on the battery charger to „0" (OFF).
Unscrew the cell plugs on standard batte-
ries before starting the charging process.
Switch the battery charger off before
connecting/disconnecting the charger's
crocodile clip-on terminals.
Never disconnect them while a charging
process is underway.
The battery must not be disconnected from
the vehicle's electrical system for as long
as the charging process is underway.
Never short circuit the charger's crocodile
clip-on terminals.

Turning on/off
i
The voltage supply for the battery charger is
taken from the lighting line. The device is set
ex-factory to 230 V ± 10 %, 50 Hz.
BSL 2470 is switched on and off using the
power switch.

Charging batteries
i
The charge voltage will remain switched off
at reverse polarity and a short circuit of the
terminals.
i
During the charging process the battery does
not have to be separated from the vehicle's
electrical system.
!
In order to avoid any excessive build up of
gas, you should only conduct the charging
process with the switch set to „hot battery"
at ambient temperatures > 15 °C and for
older batteries. If charging is conducted with
the switch set to „cold battery" however, the
charging process must be stopped immedia-
tely the battery is fully charged..
Adhere to the following procedure when
charging batteries:
1.
Switch the battery charger off (Fig. 2,
Pos. 9).
2.
Unscrew the cell plugs on standard batte-
ries before starting the charging process.
3.
Connect the crocodile clip-on terminals
to the proper battery terminals (Fig. 1,
Pos. 1). The red-colored clip goes to the
positive terminal (+) and the blue one to
the negative terminal (-).
4.
Set the two-way switch for „cold and hot
batteries" to the correct position (Fig. 2,
Pos. 6). Note that only the battery tempe-
rature is to be evaluated.
5.
Turn the potentiometer for setting the
battery charging current (Fig. 2, Pos. 8)
to the left-hand maximum limit (lowest
charging current).
6.
Set the two-way switch (Fig. 2, Pos. 5) to
the specified battery nominal voltage for
the battery to be charged.
