CIRCUIT BREAKER/HMCP INSTALLATION
Consult instructions from circuit breaker/HMCP manufacturer before beginning installation.
The mounting plate and circuit breaker operator will accommodate breaker/HMCP
manufacturers and amperage ranges per Table 3. See Figure 2 for further assembly details.

1.
Install the circuit breaker/HMCP LINE side up. Using
the supplied mounting plate template sheet, identify
the circuit breaker/HMCP mounting holes in the
mounting plate. The mounting plate template is for
hole reference purposes only and should not be used
within the assembly. Use punched corner marks in
mounting plate (see Figure 3) to help locate circuit
breaker/HMCP . Figure 3 shows size A body. Similar
setup is used for sizes B and C.
2.
Secure the circuit breaker/HMCP to the mounting plate
with the screws provided from the circuit breaker
manufacturer (Eaton Series G circuit breakers come
with mounting hardware).
3.
After circuit breaker/HMCP is installed, assemble the appropriate fork plate to the
fork with supplied two (2) 1/4-20 x 3/4" screws and two (2) 1/4 split lock washers
as shown, and torque screws to 30 in.-lb (3.4 N-m). See Figure 4 and Table A4 for
selecting the correct fork plate for the assembly.
4.
Attach the fork/fork plate
assembly to circuit breaker/
HMCP shaft as shown, and
set the height per reference
Table A4 and Figure 5. Once
the height is in place, torque
the set screw to 40 in.-lb.
(4.5 N-m). The fork plate
38.1
should sit approximately
1/8"-3/16" (2.3-4.7mm)
above the closest face of
the circuit breaker.
5.
Visually inspect for proper alignment when closing cover to ensure the fork/fork plate
assembly properly engages the circuit breaker/HMCP toggle.
6.
Once the cover is closed, check the circuit breaker/HMCP operator, ensuring that the
operator properly functions by operating the circuit breaker/HMCP to the ON, OFF and
RESET positions.

7 .
Set up the handle stops in the lockout plate to allow proper travel and operation to
the circuit breaker/HMCP ON and RESET positions, but prevent over-travel. This
requires taking the handle to the circuit breaker/HMCP ON and RESET positions and
threading the set screws to just contact the handle, then tightening the jam nuts to
lock the set screws in place.
8.
Re-check the circuit breaker/
HMCP operator to ensure proper
operation of the circuit breaker/
HMCP to the ON/OFF/RESET
positions and no operator over-
travel.
9.
Finally, check the lockout to make
sure that the circuit breaker/
HMCP operator and the circuit breaker/HMCP cannot be turned ON when locked out
in the OFF position. This should be checked at initial installation and whenever locking
out the enclosure.
STARTER INSTALLATION
Consult instructions from starter manufacturer before beginning installation. The mounting
and reset operator will accommodate starter types and NEMA sizes per Table 4. See
Figure 6 for further reset assembly details.
1.
Install the starter LINE side up. Using the supplied mounting plate template sheet,
identify the starter mounting holes in the mounting plate. Mounting plate template is
for hole reference purposes only and should not be used within the assembly.
2.
Secure the starter to the mounting plate with the screws shown in reference Table
A3.
3.
After the starter is installed, assemble
the appropriate contact plate to the
reset operator adjustment shaft and set
the height per reference Table A5. The
contact plate should sit approximately
1/16"-1/8" above the reset button on
the starter. Once the height is in place,
EG BREAKER
LOCATING CORNER
torque the jam nut to 30 in.-lb. (3.4 N-m).
4.
Once the cover is closed, check the reset operator, ensuring that the operator
properly functions by resetting the starter. Manually trip the starter and check that
the reset operator properly resets the starter.
WIRING CONNECTIONS
2.00
50.8
1.
Check tightness of all internal fasteners of enclosure, including those securing
electrical equipment and mounting plate before wiring. Fasteners could loosen from
shipment and/or installation.
2.
Connect grounding conductors to the ground lugs on the mounting plate. Pull all
phase conductors into enclosure and make connections as shown in breaker and

starter manufacturer's instructions. All electrical connections should be tightened
to torque values specified in manufacturer's literature and comply with the national
installation codes and all local codes. Verify torque of any existing wiring.
3.
Route ground and phase conductors to avoid any sharp edges and provide proper

TYPE 2
wire bend clearance and wire spacing.
4.
When connecting control wires to cover route wires to prevent damage when
opening and closing the cover. Route wires to avoid the circuit breaker/HMCP and
starter operators. Always maintain the required electrical spacing.
5.
Test wiring for correctness with continuity checks and also for unwanted ground with
an insulation resistance check.
See Table A1 for wire sizing and torque values.
