Maintenance and operating
instructions for roller doors
General instructions
Initial commissioning must be carried out
by qualified staff and entered in the system
logbook. The door system must not be
operated until the manual has been read
thoroughly and all functions are known.
Noone is allowed to stay in the door zone
or to deposit any items in this area.
The door opening must only be passed
when the door is at a standstill. Always pay
attention to the inner passage height.
If uninstructed persons have access to the
door, corresponding warning signs must be
fitted to draw attention to these measures.
In this case, the door must only be
controlled by key switches, insofar as no
personal protection systems are available.
If necessary, control elements and devices
must be made childproof by means of
organisational measures.
The door system must only be operated
with adequate lighting which ensures that
all door movements can be recognised in
good time by all users. If necessary, the
door owner must arrange for additional
signal systems to be fitted. The lighting
system is a third party responsibility.
The owner must take precautions for
emergency measures to ensure that the
door and control point can still be reached
without any danger (e.g. provision of
ladders, scaffolding, working platforms).
The door must only be used by the intended
persons or systems and operated with
intact safety devices for its proper and in
tended use. When there are visible defects
(damage, wear, loose or broken parts,
electrical faults or similar), the system
must be switched off and secured.
When the door is closed, no objects or
items must be placed leaning against the
door. Always ensure that no objects or
items can fall into the area of the door.
The bottom beam must not be blocked. It
must not be used to fasten any objects, to
pull people up, to change parts or any other
improper use.
The door must only be operated for the
operating time stated in the data sheet
under specified external influences such
as ambient temperature, relative humidity,
aggressive and explosive atmosphere. Care
must be taken to ensure compliance with
the maintenance intervals stated in the
data sheet.
Maintenance, tests and repairs must only
be carried out by suitably qualified staff.
For this purpose, the system must be
switched off and secured to prevent it being
operated in an uncontrolled manner. If
necessary, the area around the door must
be sealed off from the normal users.
Regardless of the prescribed maintenance,
a yearly inspection is to be carried out.
These inspections are to be recorded in
a test logbook. The owner must keep the
logbook available for consultation.
After repairs have been carried out, the
door system must be tested.
Please keep these assembly, operating and maintenance instructions as long as you use the product!
Care of the door
The door is to be protected from damage
and dirt. Measures are required in particu
lar to ensure that the safety systems are
not exposed to extreme dirt or hazard risks.
Do not use scouring agents or decompos
ing substances to clean the door.
Caution:
Do not let any water get into the hinges of
the door slats. Apply a thin coat of grease
to the hinge area.
Do not remove the warning signs on the
door.
Instructions for operating the door
1. Main switch
The system can be disconnected from the
electricity mains by the main switch or plug
and socket connection.
2. Emergency off switch
Emergency shutdown (for remote
controlled systems) is carried out using
the main switch or a separate emergency
off switch.
3. Opening
The command "Door open" is usually given
by a corresponding push button. Alterna
tively the command can also be given by
key switch, radio contact or other operators
such as vehicle detector, remote control
etc., depending on the options included in
the contract (refer to separate description
where necessary).
4. Closing
The command "Door closed" is usually
given by a corresponding push button.
Alternatively the command can also be
given by key switch, radio contact or other
operators such as vehicle detector, remote
control etc., depending on the options
included in the contract (refer to separate
description where necessary).
5. Safety edge (switching strip)
Insofar as the system has no dead man
circuit, the door system is fitted with a
switching strip along the closing edge
which switches off the closing movement of
the door when it meets a hindrance. The
closing edge safeguard is selfmonitoring.
Please refer to the separate description for
its precise functions.
6. Light barrier safeguard
If included in the scope of the system, light
barriers arranged in the door zone safe
guard the closing area. This avoids any
closing movements as long as the light
beam is interrupted.
7. Pinch protection
Roller shutters as well as roller doors of
less than 2,500 mm in height which do not
operate with a dead man control must be
equipped with pinch protection. These pre
vent persons from being caught up in the
system when the light beam is interrupted.
8. Emergency control (read separate
instructions issued by the drive manu
facturer!)
In the event of a power failure or other
faults, the door can be operated by hand by
an emergency hand crank or chain hoist.
Prerequisite is a firm standing position.
When using the emergency control, the
control voltage from the drive is inter
rupted. The door cannot be operated using
the normal control elements until the
emergency control has been taken out or
disengaged.
The emergency control must not be
operated by a drive. Similarly, it must not
be possible to turn the door by hand over
and beyond the limits of the operating limit
switch.
Do not use an emergency chain system
when the drive is running.
9. Faults
When operating faults occur, disconnect the
mains voltage (switch off the main switch)
and notify a qualified engineer. If necessary,
an electrician can eliminate an electrical
fault (in compliance with the wiring
diagrams).
If there is a fault in the safety edge, if
necessary emergency operation is possible
(comply with the special instructions).
10. Special options
Special options such as special locking,
automatic control etc. are featured in the
optional descriptions.
Instructions for maintenance and testing
of door systems
Maintenance and testing must only be
carried out by qualified staff. The qualified
staff must be capable of evaluating the
safe working condition of door systems.
However, the regulations and specifications
relevant for the door must be taken into
consideration.
Tests are to be carried out on the basis of
the enclosed test report, including product
specific instructions for drive system, anti
runoff device, safety edge, etc. Please give
special attention to the instructions for the
safety devices.
Caution:
When the anti run-off device is triggered,
this exerts a jolting load on all parts.
In this case, it is vital to contact the manu-
facturing works. In TH80 the suspension
elements have to be replaced in any case.
