15. Push the supplied brass end fitting into the end of the hose. To do this, taken the hose in
one hand and press in the brass end fitting against a solid object. Push it on until it
bottoms on a larger diameter section. Slide the retaining nut onto the end of the hose,
then push on the symmetrical olive. (fig. 3)
16. The assistance of a second person is very helpful for the next step in order to avoid the
loss of fluid! The helper brings the master cylinder from the workbench and holds it with
one hand close to the end of the hose with the open connection facing upwards. (fig. 4)
With the other hand the lever is slowly actuated until fluid can be seen in the connection.
Make sure that no fluid escapes! Then keep the lever in this position. Now feed the end of
hose as far as it will go into the connection, keeping it centered and then push the olive
with the retaining nut into the connection and screw the retaining nut into the master cylin-
der with a 8 mm wrench to a torque of 35 inch pounds. The resulting deformation of the
olive seals the system. The helper can now release the lever. All the remaining work can be
carried out alone.
17. Slip the protective hose over the retaining screw.
18. Attach the master cylinder to the original OEM clamp of the mechanical clutch lever on the
handlebar. Use the 1/4"-20 screws provided. Do not use the original screws from the clamp!
19. The turn signal on 2003 models and older can either be attached to the mirror mounting
screw with the existing OEM adaptor, or the adaptor can be taken off and the mounting pro-
cedure for 2004 models and younger can be followed. In this case, the ball on the stud of
the turn signal is inserted into the ball socket on the master cylinder and locked in position
with the setscrew.
