1. GENERAL

1.1 Description

The RP-200 works as a handheld instrument with small size and minimum
weight; its main function is to generate pilot signals at return band (downstream) as
well as at direct frequency band (upstream) in a CATV installation.
These signals, selectable by the user, are Test pilots through which it is possible to
obtain measurements in order to characterise the transmission link. For example:
insertion losses, attenuation (Tilt), channel dynamics, C/N measurement.
One of its main features, and advantages over other instruments on the market, is
that the RP-200 is fully-configurable by the user, i.e. the frequency and level of each
pilot can be set independently.
For easier read out, the RP-200 employs a graphic screen, and backlight which is
automatically activated in adverse lighting conditions. All the functions are selected by a
single control which can be manipulated with only one finger.
The RP-200 is powered by rechargeable batteries or the mains using the supplied
mains adapter. The battery charger is built-in.
