Troubleshooting Chart
Symptom
Engine will not start
Noisy operation
Pressure drop in air tank or rapid
pressure loss when the unit is
shut off.
Insufficient pressure at air tool or
accessory

Possible Cause (s)
Various engine problems
1.
Loose pulley or pump flywheel
2.
Lack of oil in the pump
3.
Carbon deposits on pistons or
valves
4.
Bearing, piston or connecting
rod failure
1.
Air leaks at connections
2.
Air leak in air tank
3.
Defective Pilot Valve
1.
Pressure Regulator not turned
to high enough pressure or
defective
2.
Restricted air intake
3.
Air leaks or restrictions
4.
Hose or hose connections are
too small or long
5.
Slipping belt
6.
The unit is not large
enough for air requirement
7.
Restriction in Pilot Valve

Corrective Action
Refer to the engine manual
accompanying your unit
1.
Tighten pulley and or flywheel
2.
Add correct amount of oil. Check
for bearing damage
3.
Remove cylinder head and inspect.
Clean or replace
4.
STOP THE UNIT! Contact your
Customer Service
1.
Allow the unit to build pres-
sure to the maximum allowed.
Turn off and brush a soapy water
solution onto all connections.
Check connections for air bubbles.
Tighten the connections where
leaks are present
2.
Air tank must be replaced. Do not
attempt to repair air tank!
3.
Clean or replace
1.
Adjust Pressure Regulator to proper
setting or replace
2.
Clean or replace Air Intake Filter
3.
Check for leaks and repair
4.
Replace with larger hose or
connectors
5.
Tighten or replace
6.
Check the accessory air require
ment. If it is higher than the CFM
or pressure supply to the air com-
pressor, use a larger unit
7.
Clean or replace
