8.1 GENERAL INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS
Remove the delivery and suction caps before connect-
ing the product to the pipes
Install the electric pump in a ventilated place that is
well-protected against weather conditions (rain and
ice, etc.).
Pipes must be sized in order to bear the maximum op-
erating pressure of the pump.
EN
Make sure that the water/suction port level difference
and the pressure drops along the suction pipe, when
added together, are still lower than the suction capacity
of the pump. Water temperature and elevation can also
negatively affect the suction capacity of the pump. If
the various factors affecting the suction capacity of the
pump, when added together, are greater than the suction
capacity of the pump, cavitation occurs, compromising
the hydraulic performance of the pump and leading to
damage to its vital parts. Specific information on how
to check that the pump is not operating in cavitation is
shown in chapter 15.4 (pump manual).

If possible, the user should install a minimum pressure switch (suction
side) if the electric pump is directly connected to the water mains.

Choose an expansion vessel suitable for the type of installation. Using the
expansion vessel on the delivery line of the electric pump allows the pipes
to remain pressurised when the system is not in use.

9. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

− THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION MUST BE PERFORMED BY A QUALI-
FIED TECHNICIAN.
− IT IS ADVISABLE TO INSTALL A CIRCUIT BREAKER ON THE ELECTRI-
CAL SYSTEM FOR BOTH SINGLE-PHASE AND THREE-PHASE VERSIONS
Before performing the electrical connection, the technician should carefully
read the information contained in the pump manual and in the inverter manual.
WARNING
The mains circuit must have an efficient earthing sys-
tem in accordance with local electricity regulations: the
installer is responsible for this.
Use a cable which complies with the applicable local
regulations and has a suitable section according to its
length, the power installed and the mains voltage.
WHILE PERFORMING THE CONNECTION, MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT
THE TERMINAL BLOCK AND THE MOTOR ARE NOT DAMPENED.

10. USE, START-UP AND RUNNING

NEVER LET THE ELECTRIC PUMP OPERATE WITHOUT WATER: THE AB-
8
SENCE OF WATER CAUSES SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE INTERNAL PARTS.

10.1. GENERAL WARNINGS

a) Our surface electric pumps are designed to operate in places with a
maximum temperature of 40°C and at a maximum height above the
sea level of 1000 m;
b) our electric pumps cannot be used in swimming pools or similar envi-
ronments;
c) the prolonged operation of the electric pump with a closed delivery pipe
may cause damage due to overheating;
d) avoid switching the pump motor on and off for more than 50,000 times
per year. Switching the motor on and off for more than 50,000 times
8
per year may reduce the useful life of the pump and result in the risk of
premature breakage. As regards the maximum number per hour,
please refer to chapter 7.2 (pump manual);
e) if there is a power supply failure, it is advisable to cut the power supply
circuit;
f) select the pump in order to ensure that it operates close to its maxi-
mum efficiency and at least within the range of minimum and maxi-
mum nominal flow rate values.
For further information, please refer to the pump manual and the inverter
manual.

11. MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR

For further information, please refer to the pump manual and the inverter
manual.
Cut off the power supply before carrying out any
maintenance operation on the electric pump.
These operations must be carried out by qualified
personnel only: failure to comply with this prescription
will invalidate the warranty.
