3.7.7 Intelligent dotting function
The recorder dotting function is dependent on the chart
speed and dot sequence. This means that the unit will
only place a dot onto the chart if a change to the
following criteria has taken place: a movement of at
least 0.5 mm in time and/or amplitude axis. This means
that a dot of either the same or a different colour will
not be placed on the same point of the chart. if more
than one channel are to be printed on top of each
other,
(e.g. on the zero line or when having an identical input
signal), then the dots of these channels are
sequentially printed. The print frequency of single
channels is increased if single channels are bypassed
(not in operation).
Example:
If 5 channels are bypassed then the remaining channel
dots are printed 6 times as often. The dot sequence
(the space between two dot print sequences) remains
unchanged.
3.7.8 Switching off the "Intelligent dotting function"
This function is recommended when the recorder
operates using a slow paper chart speed and low
dotting sequences. This means that the recorder
mechanics and print wheel are spared wear and tear
caused by unnecessary dotting. Furthermore a mixing
of colours on the pen points is avoided.
However print (dotting) of individual channels can be
suppressed when the recorder simultaneously operates
with:
·
Slow chart speeds
·
Low dotting sequence times
·
Similar input signals on more than one channel
·
Small signal change.
Here we recommend switching this function OFF.
