Inner Seal- Remove seal (12) rotating member and
spring from rotor shaft by first removing retaining ring
(11). Press stationary portion from bearing plate (17) with
flat screwdriver. Examine all seal parts. Inspect contact
faces for signs of uneven wear tracks on stationary, chips
and scratches on either seal face.
DO NOT interchange seal components, replace the
entire shaft seal (12).
Bearings - Remove bearing (20) from bearing retainer
(21) by removing screws (14). Remove upper motor bear-
ing (23) from shaft with a bearing puller.
Motor - Remove motor (25) from bearing plate (17) by
removing long screws (27) from motor end cover (26).
IMPORTANT! - All parts must be clean before
reassembly. Handle seal parts with extreme
care. DO NOT damage lapped surfaces.
REASSEMBLY
Bearing - Be careful not to damage the rotor shaft when
replacing bearing. Using an arbor press, hold the rotor
and press the upper bearing (23) on the rotor shaft,
applying force to the inner race of the bearing only.
Replace lower bearing (20) on shaft (22) and insert bear-
ing into bearing plate (17). Install bearing retainer (21)
with screws (14). Note that lower bearing is an angular
contact bearing and must be installed in correct
orientation.
Inner Seal - Clean and oil seal cavity in seal housing (17).
Lightly oil (Do not use grease) outer surface of stationary
member. Press seal's (2) stationary member firmly into
bearing plate (17), using a clean seal tool. Nothing should
come in contact with the seal face except the seal tool.
Be sure the stationary portion is in straight. Place seal's
(12) retaining ring and spring over shaft until seated.
Lightly oil (Do not use grease) shaft and inner surface of
bellows on rotating member, slide rotating member onto
shaft until it engages spring. Make sure spring is seated
in retaining ring and spring is lined up on rotating mem-
ber and not cocked or resting on bellows tail. Compress
spring and install retaining ring (11).
Seal Plate - Lubricate and set o-ring (16) on shoulder of
seal plate (15). Place seal plate (15) over shaft and onto
bearing housing (17), being sure o-ring (16) is not twist-
ed. Place four capscrews (14) through holes in bearing
housing and into seal plate and torque to 6.5 ft/lbs.
Outer Seal - Clean and oil stationary seal cavity in seal
plate. Slide seal guide tool over motor shaft. Lightly oil
(Do not use grease) outer surface of seal's (12) station-
ary member.
Press stationary firmly into seal plate using a clean seal
pusher tool. Be sure the stationary member is in straight.
Nothing but the seal tool is to come in contact with seal
face.
IMPORTANT ! Do not hammer on the seal
pusher. It will damage the seal face.
Grinder Pumps
Model: AGP-HC200 Series
Service
With lapped surface of rotating member facing inward
toward stationary, slide rotating member onto shaft, until
lapped faces of stationary and rotating seal are together.
Place spring over shaft and rotating member. Be sure it
is seated on the retainer and not cocked or resting on
bellows tail.
Impeller - Place impeller (10) on motor shaft by turning
clockwise while holding shaft stationary with screwdriver.
Shredding Ring - Install stationary cutter (8) into volute
and install retaining ring (2) with cap screws (1).
Cable Assembly:
Check power cord (37) and control card (48) for cracks or
damage and replace if required.
Volute - Place volute (9) on bearing housing (17). Place
hex nut (29) through bearing plate (17) and into volute (9)
and torque evenly to 11 ft/lbs.
Cutter - Place anti-seize compound on cutter I.D. Slide
key (5) and rotating cutter (6) onto shaft. The rotating
cutter (6) should be flush with stationary cutter (8), on
suction side to within ± .020. Use shims to adjust. Place
washer (4) on screw (3), apply Loctite on threads and
place onto shaft and tighten.
Upper Housing & Capacitors -
Assemble capacitors (38), (36) and relay (35) to top plate
(32). Place o-ring (19) onto top plate (32).
Connect wires per schematic, see Figure 6 & 7. Set cord
cap (45) onto motor housing (28), place cap screws (1)
into housings and torque to 6.5 ft/lbs.
