Turn the rotor manually to verify the absence of
abnormal noise.
All the following operations must be done without
power supply.

8.1 MOTOR AND PUMP PAIRING

These instructions refer to the motor alone. However, verify the correct
pairing between the motor and the pump, in particular that the pump
EN
power is lower than or equal to the motor power.
For the pairing strictly observe also the assembly instructions of the
pump manufacturer.
a) Place the motor and the pump horizontally on a flat surface.
b) Turn the shaft manually to verify that it rotates freely.
c) Apply silicone grease with PTFE (supplied on request) to the shaft's
teeth.
d) Remove the nuts from the motor's tie rods.
e) Pair the motor with the pump while being careful to mate the spline
shaft with the internal teeth of the pump and making sure that the
cable is properly positioned.
f) Place the elastic washers on the vertical bolts and tighten the nuts in
a criss-cross sequence applying maximum 12 Nm torque.
g) Check that the shaft protection cap is correctly positioned.
Check that the motor shaft moves freely both
WARNING!
radially and axially. There must not be any rigid
connection between the motor and pump capa-
ble of causing damage during operation.

8.2 INSTALLATION

WARNING!
Install the motor at more than 1 m above the bot-
tom, so as to prevent sand from building up, which
would cause the diaphragm to malfunction.
WARNING!
Do not grip the power cable to lift the motor.
Install the motor exclusively submersed in water.
Fasten the cable to the delivery piping of the electric pump so as to
prevent it from getting damaged during the handling phase.
Do not grip the power cable to lift the motor, but use the appropriate
lifting hooks mounted in the pump's delivery outlet.

9. MOTOR CABLE EXTENSION

THE CABLE MUST BE JOINTED BY A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN.
WARNING!
The installer is responsible for choosing the exten-
sion cable and its size.
The supplied cable can be extended by the princi-
pal by strictly observing the instructions provided
with the jointing kit.
WARNING!
Make sure to use a cable conforming to
the regulations in force in the relevant country, with
suitable cross-sectional dimensions
in relation to its length,
installed power and mains voltage, and suitable for
powering submersible motors (FIG. 7).

10. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY
QUALIFIED PERSONNEL.

10.1 GENERAL WARNINGS

WARNING!
Any intervention must be carried out by qualified
personnel
with
disconnected and previously secured against
resrtarting. These instructions are also valid for
the auxiliary circuits.
Make sure there is no supply voltage.
WARNING!
The sistem must be reliably earthed, according
to the electrical regulations in force in the user's
country: this is the installer's responsibility.
The supply voltage must not exceed ±10% of the rated voltage indicated
on the rating plate for 4OY motors and +6%–10% of the rated voltage
indicated on the rating plate for 4WY motors. The rated frequency can
vary in conformity to the provisions of the EN 60034 technical standard.
The power supply cable must not be subject to any
mechanical traction.
Make sure that the protective conductor is
earthed.
Make sure that the earth conductor makes proper
contact.
10.2 MOTOR PROTECTION AND WIRING DIAGRAMS
WARNING!
Make sure that the motor is adequately protected.
The motors must be suitably protected against over-voltage and short-
circuits by means of adequate electrical panels, thus unless other local
regulations apply, mount the following elements on the power supply
line:
a) main switch;
b) protection fuses;
c) trip switch (thermal-magnetic);
d) high-sensitivity differential switch (30 mA).
- Single-phase version:
Connect the motor to the power supply line through the relevant electri-
cal panel, using suitable overload protection devices and a capacitor.
Refer to the wiring diagram shown in FIG. 5. For the capacitor's capac-
ity, refer the motor's rating plate.
- Three-phase version:
Connect the motor to the power supply line through the relevant electri-
cal panel, using suitable overload protection devices. Refer to the wiring
diagram shown in FIG. 6.
