Sensors Installation Tips
INTRUSION DETECTORS
- Avoid direct light on the sensor.
- Do not install close to fluorescent light tubes.
- Avoid curtains, partitions, etc. that may block the detection area.
- Avoid zones where steam or damp air may cause condensation.
- Avoid placing the sensor where there are air currents that may be detected, caused by ventilators or
air conditioning.
- Do not place in unstable spots, where vibrations or blows may affect the sensor.
- Do not focus the sensor towards detection zones with objects in continuous movement (blinds,
curtains..).
- Do not focus towards outdoor zones where there are frequent movements.
- Do not install outdoors.
WATER SENSORS
- Mount the water sensor on a wall or flat surface near the area you wish to detect, with the sensor contacts
as close to the floor as possible, but without touching it.
SMOKE SENSORS
Do not install smoke sensors:
- In bathrooms, showers, garages or other rooms where steam or smoke accumulates easily and might
activate the detector. Installation in lofts or penthouses where extreme temperatures are reached (below
4 degrees or over 40º) is not recommended .
- Near decorative objects, doors, lamps, mouldings, etc., that might stop the smoke entering the detector.
- On surfaces that are usually warmer or cooler than the rest of the room, such as attic skylights or outer
walls with no chamber. The temperature differences may prevent the smoke reaching the detector.
- Close to, or just above heaters or ventilators, air conditioning, windows, ventilation outlets, etc. that might
change the direction of the air current and at the same time may undergo extreme temperature changes.
Smoke detector position
Depending on the spot where you wish to place the detector, on a ceiling or wall, it is recommendable to
bear in mind certain points:
Ceiling: The ideal spot to place the smoke detector is in the centre, as the air is «dead» in the
corners and does not move. It must also be placed at a minimum distance of 30 cm from any article of
decoration that may obstruct the entry of smoke.
Wall: When there are beams or other elements that prevent installation, the detector must be placed
on the wall at a distance of no less than 30 cm from the ceiling, maintaining a minimum distance of 15
cm from the corners.
Sloping ceiling: In areas with a sloping ceiling, the smoke detector must be placed 90 cm horizontal
to the highest point of the ceiling.
