1. About This Documentation

These instructions contain important information for the
safe and appropriate assembly of the MSV8 micro sole-
noid valve.
 Read these instructions carefully, especially the
section "Notes on Safety", before working with the
product.
Required and supplementary documentation
The MSV8 micro solenoid valve is a single component.
 Also follow the instructions for the other
components.
 Observe the system documentation from the system
manufacturer.
 This manual and further technical data can be found
in our online catalog at Emerson.com/ASCO.

2. Notes on Safety
The product has been manufactured according to the
accepted rules of current technology. Even so, there is
a risk of injury or damage if the following general safety
instructions and the specific warnings given in these in-
structions are not observed.
 Keep these instructions in a location where they are
accessible to all users at all times.
 Always include the assembly instructions when you
pass the product on to third parties.
NOTICE
Intended use
The MSV8 micro solenoid valve serves as a control and
supply valve for downstream pneumatic systems and
may only be used in accordance with the specifications
outlined in the technical documentation from Emerson
and information on the product rating plate. The prod-
uct may only be commissioned once it has been properly
assembled.
 Use is permitted only under the operating conditions
and within the performance limits listed in the
technical data.
 O nly use neutral gas or neutral liquids as the
medium.
 T he product is intended for professional use only.
Personnel qualifications
All tasks associated with the products require basic me-
chanical, pneumatic and electrical knowledge, as well as
knowledge of the respective technical terms. In order to
ensure operational safety, these tasks may only be car-
ried out by qualified personnel or an instructed person
under the direction of qualified personnel.
Qualified personnel are those who can recognize pos-
sible hazards and institute the appropriate safety mea-
sures, due to their professional training, knowledge, and
experience, as well as their understanding of the relevant
regulations pertaining to the work to be done. Qualified
personnel must observe the rules relevant to the subject
area.
General safety instructions
 O bserve the valid safety instructions and regulations
to protect the environment and avoid accidents.
 O bserve the safety instructions and regulations of
the country in which the product is used or operated.
 T o avoid injuries due to unsuitable spare parts,
only use accessories and spare parts approved by
Emerson.
 O nly use ASCO™ products that are in perfect
working order.
 F ollow all the instructions.
 Y ou may only commission the product if you
have determined that the end product (such as a
machine or system), in which the ASCO™ products
are installed, meet the country-specific provisions,
safety regulations, and standards for the specific
application.
 I nstallation may only be performed in a voltage-
free and pressure-free state and only by a qualified
technician. Always carry out the installation in a
pressure-free state to avoid dangerous movements.
Safety instructions related to the product and
technology
 M ake sure that no moisture can penetrate the valve
parts that conduct compressed air during operation.
 O nly commission the overall system in which
the MSV8 micro solenoid valve is installed after
it has been fully assembled, including all tubing
connections and correct wiring, and after re-
checking all connections for proper insertion.
