1. Open the oil filler plug
2. Fill the transmission with oil until it reaches the
lower edge of the opening
3. Subsequently close the oil filler plug.
Do not overfill. Too much grease can create
pressure which could damage seals.
Engine Maintenance
Follow the instructions in the engine manual!

12. Storage

If the tiller will not be used for a period longer than
30 days, follow the steps below to prepare your tiller
for storage.
1. Drain the fuel tank completely. Stored fuel contain-
ing ethanol or MTBE can start to go stale in 30
days. Stale fuel has a high plastic content and can
clog the carburetor and restrict fuel flow.
2. Start the engine and allow it to run until it stops.
This ensures no fuel is left in the carburetor. Run
the engine until it stops. This helps prevent plastic
deposits from forming inside the carburetor and
possible engine damage.
3. While the engine is still warm, drain the oil from
the engine. Refill with fresh oil of the grade recom-
mended in the Engine Manual.
4. Allow the engine to cool. Remove the spark plug
and put 30 ml of high quality motor oil into the
cylinder. Pull the starter rope slowly to distribute
the oil. Replace the spark plug.
m ATTENTION! Remove the spark plug and drain
all of the oil from the cylinder before attempting to
start the unit after storage.
5. Use clean cloths to clean off the outside of the
tiller and to keep the air vents free of obstructions.
m ATTENTION! Do not use strong detergents or
petroleum based cleaners when cleaning plastic
parts. Chemicals can damage plastics.
6. Inspect for any loose or damaged parts. Repair or
replace damaged parts and tighten loose screws,
nuts or bolts.
7. Remove the tines. Clean and apply oil to the tines
and tine shafts to prevent rusting. Mount the tines
onto the tine shafts.
8. Coat the wheel axles lightly with oil. Oil the throttle
cables and all visible moving parts. Do not remove
the engine cover.
9. To store with the handles folded down:
loosen the knobs that secure the upper handle to
the lower handles. Carefully fold the upper handle
down. Do not allow control cables to become
pinched or bent.
Tighten the knobs.
10. Store your tiller in upright position in a clean, dry
building that has good ventilation.
m ATTENTION! Do not store tiller with fuel in an
non-ventilated area where fuel fumes may reach
flame, sparks, pilot lights or any ignition sourc-
es. Use only approved fuel containers.
