5 Mechanical Clamp for Consoles with
Two Vacuum Circuits
Startup
The mechanical clamps are placed on the dual-
circuit vacuum console like a normal vacuum block.
Activating the first vacuum circuit preliminarily
secures the mechanical clamp to the console as
normal.
Loosen screw [1] on clamping plate [2] and adjust
the height by turning the clamping plate. If you need
more height than is available as delivered, loosen
the clamping plate entirely and turn it 180° (only
necessary if height = 50 mm). This gives you a
larger clamping range. You can adjust the mecha-
nical clamp with a height of 100 mm to its maximum
height without turning the clamping plate
To increase the clamping range still further, see
Section 7 for more clamping plates.
After you have adjusted the clamping range, tighten
screw [1].
The mechanical clamp is now ready for use.

General function and application
After you secure the clamp to the machine table and set
the clamping range, you can clamp the workpiece. You
can also clamp a workpiece in mixed operation if the
contact surface of the mechanical clamp and vacuum
block are at the same height.
Position the workpiece as normal and activate the
second vacuum circuit on the console. The clamping
plate lowers and mechanically clamps the workpiece. If
the workpiece does not clamp, adjust the clamping plate
again.
Danger
Ensure that no body parts get caught between
the clamping plate and workpiece or contact
surface. This could result in injury.
Pay attention to the clearance height of the
machine.
Function and application of the "attachment tab"
Position the mechanical clamp as described in
"Startup".
Activate the first vacuum circuit to secure the
clamp.
Use the supplied screws [2] and T-slot nuts to
mount the attachment plate [1] to the console so
that it slots into attachment tab [3] mounted on the
mechanical clamp (see photo above).
After the screws are tightened, the clamp can be
secured in y direction and can be repositioned with
repeatable accuracy.
If there are two attachment tabs, repeat this step
for the other side of the clamp.

4
Position the mechanical clamp as described in
"Startup".
Activate the first vacuum circuit to secure the
clamp.
Connect the compressed control air to the upper
plug connector [1] to raise or lower the contact
surface (lowering function).
Clamp the workpiece by connecting the com-
pressed control air for lowering the clamping plate
(clamping function) to the lower plug connection [2].
To reset a clamp when a workpiece is clamped,
you have to deactivate the operating vacuum of the
individual console to which the clamp is attached.
Deactivating the compressed control air lowers the
contact surface and raises the clamping plate. You
can now remove the clamp.
The console's operating vacuum is only respon-
sible for securing the mechanical clamp, not for
securing the workpiece.
If the compressed air supply suddenly cuts out, the
clamp is released automatically. Clamping force is
not maintained.

6 Mechanical Clamp for Grid Tables
and Steel Plate (T)
Startup and function
You can start up and operate mechanical clamps of this
design like the clamps for Biesse and SCM (for more
information, see Section 2).
Danger
Ensure that no body parts get caught between
the clamping plate and workpiece or contact
surface. This could result in injury.
Pay attention to the clearance height of the
machine.
