INFORMATION
When used daily, the complete charging unit may remain plugged into the wall socket.
b) Lower the electronic knee joint's protective cover (if present) to expose the plug connections
in front of the knee (Fig. 3).
c) Remove the protective plug (Fig. 4) or move the slide to expose the charging receptacle of the
electronic knee joint. Gently insert the charging cable plug (with notch facing forward) into the
charging receptacle (Fig. 5). Do not force it in! The green and the yellow LED lights of the
battery charger will light, verifying that the battery is charging.
d) When the yellow LED goes out, the battery is fully charged. When the charging cable is un-
plugged, a short self-test is carried out. As soon as the self-test has been finished, the elec-
tronic knee joint is ready to function.
INFORMATION
The battery charger and power supply unit will heat up during the charging process!
CAUTION
Penetration of dirt and humidity. Penetration of dirt and humidity into the charging receptacle
of the knee joint can lead to short-circuits in the electronics and malfunction of the knee joint.
This can cause the patient to fall.
Replace the protective plug after the recharging (see fig. 3)!
Charging Time and Battery Capacity:
Charging time Capacity
4.5 hours
45 hours of use
(full battery)
1.5 hours
approx. 15 hours of use
20 minutes
approx. 5 hours of use
The indicated charging time and capacity
values may vary, because, with increased
capacity, charging time and patient use
may increase.
5 Recommendations
You may leave the electronic knee joint connected to the battery charger even when the yellow
LED is off. Overcharging or damage to the battery is not possible. Partial charging does not de-
crease battery shelf life (no memory effect). We recommend daily overnight charging. Charging
is only possible at temperatures over 0 °C (32 °F). If the temperature is lower than this, charging
is interrupted to avoid battery damage.
Optional accessory – 4X74 Adapter for charging via 12-Volt auto/boat cigarette lighter receptacle.
