Cleaning Read/Write Head
After approximately every twenty-five hours of operation, clean the read/write
head with a foam swab (do not use a cotton swab) moistened in pharmaceutical
grade isopropyl alcohol (make sure that the alcohol has no additives such as
lanolin). Push open the tape access door, locate the head, and wipe the head
up and down (not sideways) as illustrated below using very light pressure.
CAUTION No other maintenance procedures are authorized by Iomega.
Attempting to service the drive in any other way will void the warranty. NEVER
touch the read/write head or any other internal part of the drive with your fingers.
QIC-80 cleaning cartridges are NOT compatible with QIC-3020 Travan drives
and will damage the read/write head.
