Test Sewing

Checking the Tension Discs
To ensure that the threads are properly
inserted into the tension discs, thread the
machine and
Model 686 - raise the presser foot to open
the tension discs and pull the threads
forward about 10 cm (4").
Model 683 - raise the presser foot, set all
tension dials to 0 and pull the threads
forward about 10 cm (4"). Reset the
tension dials.

Controlling Sewing Speed

Sewing speed varies with the foot control.
The harder you press on the foot control,
the faster the machine runs.

Setting Foot Pressure

The standard setting is position 3. Move the
knob to increase or decrease the foot
pressure depending on the type of fabric.
There are five positions.

Waste Tray

Attach the waste tray to the front cover. The
tray will catch fabric scraps that are cut off.
