the Magnolux generators.
Automatic circuit breakers will cut the power
supply in extreme cases. See section 12 /
Thermal safety.
10. Changing reflectors
All reflectors are bayonet-mounted (Multiblitz
V-type bayonet). Slide (35) serves to
secure the reflectors in the bayonet mount.
Slide (35) set to B = Mount open.
Slide (35) set to A = Mount locked.
Set slide (35) to A, insert the reflector into the
bayonet mount and engage it by clockwise
rotation. Return slide (35) to A to secure the
reflector. To release it, proceed in the rever-
se order.
The lock prevents rotating accessories from
slipping out of the mount.
When changing reflectors, be careful not to
damage the Pyrex globe (28).
Use umbrellas exclusively with a STUSCH
umbrella reflector (36) which incorporates a
holder.
11. Changing the flash and halogen tubes
as well as the Pyrex globe
Switch unit off and disconnect the power
plug.
CAUTION:
The flash units get very hot around the flash
and halogen tubes.
Allow sufficient time to cool down!
Remove reflectors and other accessories.
(See section 9 / Changing reflectors).
The Pyrex globe (28) is held by three spring
clamps (37). Hold the globe with one hand,
push the upper clamp up with your finger
and withdraw the globe.
Flash tube:
Carefully withdraw the defective flash tube
(30) towards the front and replace. NEVER
touch the glass bulb of the tubes (risk of
breakage and injury); always hold them by
their ceramic base. Make sure to insert the
new tube as far as it will go.
Halogen tube:
Withdraw the defective tube towards the
front and replace.
CAUTION:
NEVER touch the new tube (29) with your
12
fingers. Instead, use the enclosed plastic tube
which should be removed after insertion.
(Also see the instructions coming with the
halogen tubes.)
Should the new tube fail to light, check fuse
(32) in the flash unit and replace by one of
identical type, if necessary (see nameplate
(33)). To open or close the fuse holder, use a
small coin or a screwdriver.
Be sure to replace the Pyrex globe (28) after
exchanging tubes.
This is indispensable for your safety. In very
rare cases, a halogen tube may burst. The
Pyrex globe prevents hot glass splinters from
scattering.
12. Fuses:
Magnolux generators have an automatic
circuit breaker (15). When this operates,
a small button will emerge from its top.
Depressing this button will reset the circuit
breaker. Should the button fail to stay in
when it is pressed down, there is a genera-
tor defect that can only be corrected by an
authorized service center.
13. Thermal safety
Magnolux generators are protected by ther-
mal switches. These may trip in the case of
excessive ambient temperature or deman-
ding use of the equipment. In this case,
a beep of approx. 3 s duration will be heard,
and the displays (4) and (7) will blink rapidly.
They will keep blinking until the unit has coo-
led down sufficiently to be used again.
14. Care and maintenance:
After regular use, the equipment should be
checked by a Multiblitz Service Center
once per year. NEVER expose the equipment
to splashing or dripping water.
Before shipping the equipment by mail
or forwarding agency, remove the flash and
halogen tubes and carefully pack them
separately.
