Unpack
Please unpack the machine carefully and inspect for damage. It is
important that any transit damage should be noted at the time of
unpacking. In certain circumstances it may be necessary to in -
vestigate immediately (post, rail or freight forwarder).
The guarantee covers: One RW 14 basic stirring machine in accor-
dance with the type ordered, a chuck key and operating instruc-
tions.

Useful facts

In buying this machine you have chosen a high quality product.
It is particularly useful for reproducibly setting the speed of stirring
procedures or for producing media in which high viscosity values
may occur temporarily. The appliance is manageable and simple to
operate, thus ensuring ease of use.
You can set speeds of 100 to 2000 rpm with the appliance. The
motor heats up during use. The outer surface of the motor acts as
a cooling surface distributing and radiating the heat as evenly as
possible.
You can also use high - sided mixing vessels together with IKA
stands without any problem.
The chuck accommodates stirrer shanks of up to max. 8 mm in
diameter. You must ensure that the stirrer shank is inserted into
the drill chuck as far as the stop. You must also ensure that the
stirrer shank is securely clamped in the chuck.

Drive

The speed of the directly powered RW 14 basic laboratory stirrer
can be infinitely adjusted by electronic means. The quiet drive
(DC motor equipped with ball bearings) is maintenance - free and
has an anti - overload system. The constant torque over the whole
speed range is particularly suitable for reproducibly stirring and
mixing media of medium viscosity and for test series carried out
successively and in parallel under the same conditions.
If the max. output torque is exceeded because of a process-rela-
ted high increase in viscosity, the appliance will switch to overlo-
ad mode (motor current limit) thus reducing the appliance's output
power (red LED flashes). The speed of the stirring shaft will also
decrease. Please note that fluctuations in the mains voltage within
the permitted tolerances will also cause minor fluctuations in the
speed.

Motor circuit breaker

The DC motor, which is equipped
with ball bearings, is maintenance-
free and is suitable for continuous
operation. The motor has an anti-
stall and anti - overload system
which is operated by an electronic
motor current limit. If a fault occurs,
the motor is immediately switched
off permanently. This will be display-
ed by means of a red LED on the
front of the appliance (see "C" fig.
3). Please check that the appliance is
still operable by switching it off and
then on again.
