INSTRUCTION MANUEL. PROMAX-8+

3 INSTALLATION

3.1

Power supply

The PROMAX-8+ is a portable instrument powered by a built-in 7.2 V NiCd
rechargeable battery. Before taking any measurement, the user should make sure that
the battery is fully charged (use the charge/discharge charger supplied with the
instrument).

3.1.1 Battery charge

The battery charger has an automatic protection circuit to prevent any possible
damage of the unit due to defective batteries.
The instrument has a 230 V / 50-60 Hz, mains adapter, for use in EUROPE and
other countries, to power the battery-charger. (See accessories to request other types
of adapters).
1)
Connect the mains adapter cable to the charger. Connect the adapter to
the mains. When the adapter-charger unit is powered, place the
battery in the charger.
2)
You are advised to discharge the battery before beginning the
charging process to eliminate any possible residual charges. Press
button A located on the right (see figure 1). A small yellow light will light
up and discharging begins. When the discharging process is terminated,
the charger automatically begins the charging process.
3)
The charging process lasts approximately an hour and a quarter for
a 950 mAh. battery. The red CHARGE indicator lights during this process.
4)
After this period, the charger will remain in maintenance charge mode if
the battery is not removed. So long as the battery is not removed, the
charge indicator will continue to be lit intermittently.
1)
Because of the high-temperature protection, if the battery has overheated
during the discharging process, for example, charging may not begin for a
short period of time until the right temperature for charging has been
reached.
2)
You are advised to keep the contacts clean, both on the charger and the
battery to be charged.
3)
You are advised to not leave the charger with a battery installed when it is
not being powered by the mains, as a slight discharge will be produced
under these conditions.
