user to use the terminal if and only if the correct PIN is entered to pro-
ceed with the normal operation.
SIM PIN
Every SIM card comes with a SIM PIN. When SIM PIN is enabled,
user will be prompted to enter the SIM PIN during the power up process
to proceed with the operation of the terminal. If the SIM PIN is entered
incorrectly for 3 consecutive attempts, then the SIM will be locked and
the user will be prompted to use PUK (PIN Unlock Key) to unlock it.
When PUK is prompted, user has to enter the correct PUK for the SIM
PIN and followed by the new SIM PIN to set. If the PUK is correct, then
the new SIM PIN will be stored. If PUK entered is incorrect for 10 con-
secutive times, then the SIM card will be locked permanently and the
user has to get a replacement SIM card from the Distributer/Service
Provider.
SIM PIN2
SIM PIN2 is not check during power on (unlike SIM PIN), but it will
be prompted during operation. According to 3GPP,

SIM PIN2 is required for SIM card or active application in the
UICC (GSM or USIM) fixed dialling memory feature.

SIM PIN2 is provided in order to access to the hidden phone-
book entries in the UICC/USIM or any other phonebook with hid-
den entries.
SIM LOCK
This is used to pair the Satlink FB250 terminal with a SIM card. Once
the terminal is "SIM LOCK"ed to a particular SIM card using a six digit
PIN, then the terminal will work only with this particular SIM card.
Once a different SIM card is inserted, the terminal will prompt the user
to enter the SIM LOCK password (or PIN) to unlock the "SIM LOCK".
