Factory default settings
The pump pressure is set to 4 bar at the factory
(Figure F/no. 13).
The follower piston plate pressure is set to 0.5 bar at
the factory (Figure F/no. 15).
NOTE
To adjust the pneumatic pressure,
pull the adjusting knob on the
regulator out and turn it...
to the right = increase the
pressure
to the left = reduce the
pressure
Operation
Loading the container
The first time a container is loaded, the two drum
stops (Figure D/no. 10) must be centered on the
base frame.
• Set the control lever (Figure B/no. 5) to Raise .
• Raise the follower piston plate until the pump lifter
is fully raised (mechanical stop).
• Move the two drum stops (Figure D/no. 10) on the
base plate out to the stops.
• Centre the container under the follower piston plate
(Figure E/no. 11).
• Set the control lever (Figure B/no. 5) to Lower and
lower the pump lifter until the follower piston plate
(Figure E/no. 11) is positioned just above the drum
(don't move it into the drum) and then set the cont-
rol lever (Figure B/no. 5) to Hold again.
• Align the container again with the follower piston
plate.
• Push and position the drum stops (Figure D/no. 10)
against the drum and tighten the two hex nuts
(size 16) securely.
DANGER
Don't touch the edge of the con-
tainer or reach into the container
under any circumstances while
lowering the follower piston plate.

NOTE
• Ensuring absolute cleanliness is
essential when opening a new
container! Only clean material may
be used. Don't turn the lid over
above the open container!
• Only use containers filled by the
lubricant manufacturer! Containers
which are filled or decanted in-
house often contain air bubbles
which can cause malfunctions.
• Containers with dents or other
deformations must not be used.
This would result in damage to the
follower piston plate and leaks.
CAUTION
Due to changing friction and pressure
conditions, sudden jumping move-
ments may occur as the follower
piston plate is lifted out of the drum.
Always maintain a sufficient safety
clearance above the cross-head.
Lower the pump into the container
• Set the control lever (Figure B/no. 5) to Lower and
open the bleed valve (Figure B/no. 6) on the follo-
wer piston plate (upward movement).
• Lower the follower piston plate (Figure E/no. 11)
until the follower piston plate has entered the drum
and reached the level of the media.
• Then close the bleed valve (Figure B/no. 6) on the
follower piston plate (downward movement).
WARNING
Don't touch the edge of the con-
tainer or reach into the container
under any circumstances while
lowering the follower piston plate.
This may result in material damage
and/or bodily harm.
CAUTION
Excessively high follower piston
plate pressure (Figure F/no. 15) can
cause the follower plate to drop
down below the level of the media
and cause a loss of grease and
contamination.
CAUTION
Closing the bleed valve is essential.
Air can be sucked in or grease pus-
hed out if the bleed valve is open.
The drum pump starts lifting up if
the bleed valve is open in the Hold
position.
Lubricant pumping
• Turning the switch (Figure F/no. 12) to the START-
position starts the pump.
CAUTION: In order to avoid pressing against air, the
control lever (Figure B/no. 5) must be set to
Lower- . Use the pressure gauge / pressure
regulator (Figure F/no. 13) to adjust the pump
pressure if necessary.
Move the follower plate out of the container.
• Interrupt the air supply to the pump by turning the
switch (Figure F/no. 12) to the STOP-
position.
• Set the control lever to Raise (Figure I/no. 5)
until the follower piston plate (Figure E/no.11) has
automatically moved out of the container.
• CAUTION: If the follower piston plate cannot be
lifted all the way out of the container, please initiate
the following steps:
1. Open the bleed valve (Figure B/no. 6) on the
follower piston plate (upward movement).
2. Set the control lever (Figure B/no. 5) to Raise
until the pump lifter has been raised all the way
(mechanical stop).
3. Check the seals on the follower piston plate
(Figure E/no. 11) for damage and clean them.
Container changeover
After moving the follower plate out of the container:
• Remove the empty container.
• Slide a full container against the drum stops
(Figure D/no. 10) and centre it
WARNING
Don't touch the edge of the con-
tainer or reach into the container
under any circumstances while
lowering the follower piston plate.
This may result in material damage
and/or bodily harm.
Packing, Transport and Storage
The product will be prepared for transport to its first
destination by ABNOX. The packing unit may not be
subjected to any excess load. The packaging and
its content must be protected from moisture. The
transport temperature must be kept between – 20°C
and + 40°C.
Transport Damages
If transport damages are discovered during the
inspection of incoming goods, this procedure must
be followed:
• Inform delivering party (freight carrier, etc.)
• Make record of damages
• Inform supplier
Storage
Storage and temporary storage in aggressive or
humid environments or outdoors can lead to
corrosion and other damages. The storage
temperature must be kept from – 20 °C to +40°C.
Training of Personnel
Only trained and instructed personnel who have read
and understood all points of the Operating Manual
may work on the product. Likewise the individual
operating states must be mastered, and the related
safe aspects must be known and they must be able
to implement them. Personnel undergoing training
may only work on the product under the supervision
of qualified personnel.
