9) Install the support tubes. In order to do so, apply Loctite® 241 to the screws and tighten them
alternately until the tensioning wedge is flush with no gaps (torque value 4 Nm).
Checking the fit in the sagittal plane
The fit of the orthosis in the sagittal plane is of crucial importance for the locking and unlocking
function of the orthosis knee joint.
>
To verify technical functionality, have the patient seated on a chair. If necessary, help the
patient unlock the knee joint to allow sitting with the knee flexed.
► Take the calf in your hand and bring it slowly into the extended position.
→ If the anatomical limit in the knee joint is reached before the orthosis extension stop, then
the orthosis must be aligned with slightly more flexion.
The corrections for the standing position can be performed by re-shaping the femoral support
tubes.
1) Remove the axis of the orthosis knee joint.
→ The upper and lower parts are separated from each other.
2) Correct the fit in the sagittal plane in 2° increments.
INFORMATION: Corrections of 2° or 4° may result in significant differences in the fit.

5.2.3 Checking freedom of movement in the ankle

NOTICE
Improper settings
Loss of functionality due to damaged steel cable
Do not use the set screw of the steel cable on the ankle joint bottom part to adjust the lock.
1) Check the freedom of movement of the orthosis ankle joint.
INFORMATION: The orthosis ankle joint must have at least 5° mobility up to the dor
siflexion stop in order to ensure automatic unlocking of the orthosis knee joint.
2) If needed: Use the central screw of the orthosis ankle joint (see fig. 8, item 1) to adjust the
neutral position according to the scale on the foot stirrup (see fig. 8, item 2).
INFORMATION: In a standing position, ensure that the orthosis ankle joint is not too
far in dorsal or plantar flexion since this can result in unintentional unlocking of the
orthosis knee joint.
3) If needed: Bend the foot stirrup with insert with the help of the 711S7=3.5x3 bending iron.

5.3 Finishing the orthosis

Required tools: Torque wrench
1) Apply Loctite® 241 to the central screw of the orthosis ankle joint and tighten it (torque value
14 Nm).
2) Apply Loctite® 241 to the screws of the foot stirrup and tighten them (torque value 2.5 Nm).
3) Optional: Trim all hook-and-loop straps of the closure straps so that sufficient material
remains for attaching the Y hook-and-loop closure.
4) Attach the Y hook-and-loop closure.
5) Optional: Sew the Y hook-and-loop closure of the orthosis to the loop strap.
