4 Before Operation
4.1 Setting up the PA system
It is recommended to install the satellite
speakers on suitable speaker stands and to
place the subwoofer between the speakers .
Notes:
1 . To provide optimum sound, the satellite speak-
ers should be at ear level of the audience .
2 . In the stereo mode, it is not necessary for the
subwoofer cabinet to be exactly in the middle
between the satellite speakers; it will not be
possible to exactly locate the low frequencies
radiated by the subwoofer .
4.2 Connecting signal source and
speaker systems
Prior to making or changing any connec-
tions, switch off the TRITON-550 and the
units to be connected .
Caution! Lay all connection cables in such
a way that they do not create a trip hazard .
If required, use cable protectors (e . g . items
CB-...) and/or specific tapes (gaffa tapes,
e . g . items AT-201, AT-202)
1) Feed the input signal to the XLR / 6 .3 mm
jacks LINE IN (4) . The line level output,
e . g . of a mixer, CD/MP3 player or pream-
plifier, can be connected to these jacks .
If required, use appropriate adapter
cables (XLR or 6 .3 mm to RCA) .
2) The input signals are available at the
jacks LINE OUT (5) . Additional active
speaker systems, for example, can be
connected to these jacks .
3) Use an appropriate speaker cable with
Speakon
-compatible plugs to connect
®
the left satellite speaker to the jack SAT-
ELLITE OUT L (11) and the right satellite
speaker to the jack SATELLITE OUT R:
Insert the plug into the jack and turn it
clockwise until it locks . To remove the
plug, push the safety latch backwards
and turn the plug anti-clockwise .
4) For power supply, use the mains
cable provided to connect the mains
jack 230 V~ (13) to a mains socket
(230 V/ 50 Hz) .
5 Operation
1) Prior to switching on the system for the
first time, turn the controls SAT (1) and
SUB (2) to MIN to prevent an initial vol-
ume which is too high .
2) Use the button STEREO / MONO (10) to
select the operating mode .
3) Use the POWER switch (12) to switch
on the system . The LED indicator ON
(6) will light up .

4) Use the control SAT to adjust the vol-
ume desired for the satellite speakers
and then use the button SUB to add the
bass content .
CAUTION Never adjust the system to
Your ear will get accustomed to high
volumes which do not seem to be that
high after some time . Therefore, do
not further increase a high volume
after getting used to it .
5) Use the control LOW PASS (3) to adjust
the highest frequency to be reproduced
by the subwoofer and thus to make sure
that the subwoofer will complement the
sound of the speakers in an optimum
way .
6) Use the rotary knob DPS PRESETS (9)
to select the sound characteristic de-
sired . The LED chain (8) will indicate
the characteristic selected . When FLAT
is selected, the signal processor will not
change the sound .
