4. INPUTS

Your AMI2-70/TR holds two kinds of inputs in each of its channels (MIC, stereo LINE). Selection
between them is done via push button (18) located on the back panel of the device.
- Microphones: The 2 mixing channels have a jack type connection (16) for microphone,
accepting a level between -20dBV and -50dBV. This level can be adjusted with a potentiometer
(trimmer) (17) on the back panel.
There is also another microphone input, located on the front panel (1), which is connected in
parallel with the existing one of the same channel on the back panel.
These microphone inputs allow a balanced connection; for this, you must plug a stereo 1/4" jack as
follows:
Live or direct signal
Cold or inverted signal
Ground/Earth
Microphones must be low impedance (200 to 600) and monophonic. For NON balanced
connections, use monophonic jacks. It is also possible to make a non balanced connection with a stereo
jack connector by shotrcircuiting the center ring to ground.
Phantom power is available for condenser microphones, with the positive on the ring and the tip, the
negative on the sleeve. It can be deactivated with an internal jumper. See diagram.

- iPOD
, CD, DAT, MP3, Audio DVD... It is recommended to connect them to anyone of the 2
stereo LINE inputs (19), with RCA type connectors (back panel). All these inputs accept 0dBV (1V) line
level signals.
A mini-jack LINE input also exists on the front panel (30) and is connected in parallel with the one
for the same channel on the back panel. It has the following wiring:
L channel
R channel
Ground
- Turntables CAN NOT be directly connected to this unit, because none of the AMI2-70/TR's inputs
has a RIAA preamplifier.
- MIX connection (20) for other mixers: direct access to the main mixing "bus". This input is
especially useful to patch mixers, for example two AMI2-70/TR, or an AMI2-70/TR and a SAM mixer,
therefore increasing the number of mixing channels and inputs. The input sensitivity is 0dB (1V).
