Eliminating minor faults yourself

Before you call customer service:
Please check whether you can eliminate the fault yourself based on the following information.
Run an appliance self-test (see chapter "Appliance self-test").
Customer service will charge you for advice even if the appliance is still under guarantee!
Fault
Temperature differs greatly
from the set value.
Displays do not illuminate.
An warning signal sounds.
The alarm button 14 is lit.
The light does not work.
The side panels of the appliance are
warm.
Appliance has no refrigeration
capacity.
The light does not work.
The display does not illuminate.
The refrigerating unit
is switching on more frequently
and for longer.
Possible cause
Power failure; the fuse has been switched off;
the mains plug has not been inserted properly.
Fault - the freezer compartment is too warm!
Appliance is open.
Ventilation openings have been covered.
Too much food was placed in the freezer at
once.
The light is defective.
Pipes run into the side panels which heat
during the cooling process.
Power failure.
The fuse has been switched off.
The mains plug has not been inserted properly. Check whether the mains plug is secure.
Appliance opened frequently.
The ventilation openings have been covered.
Large quantities of fresh food are being frozen. Do not exceed max. freezing capacity.
Remedial action
In some cases it is adequate to switch off the appliance
for 5 minutes.
If the temperature is too high wait a few hours and check
whether the temperature has approached the set value.
If the temperature is too low check the temperature again
the next day.
Connect mains plug. Check whether the power is on, check
the fuses.
To switch off the warning signal, press the alarm button 14.
Close the appliance.
Ensure that there is adequate ventilation.
Do not exceed max. freezing capacity.
When the fault has been eliminated, the alarm button goes out
shortly afterwards.

That is normal behaviour for the appliance and not a fault.
Check whether the power is on.
Check the fuse.
Do not open the appliance unnecessarily.
Remove obstacles.
