Switching Off
WARNING
■ To reduce the risk of personal injury from unin‐
tended activation or unauthorized use, switch
off the motor and remove the battery before
transporting or putting the shredder vac down.
To switch the shredder vac off:
► Release the trigger switch so that it springs
back to the locked position.
15 Checking the Controls
15.1
Testing the Controls
Before starting work, confirm that the trigger
switch (1) are undamaged and functioning prop‐
erly.

WARNING
■ To help reduce the risk of injury from blown
objects, always wear proper eye protection
while testing the controls. Keep bystanders
away.
To test the controls:
► Remove the battery.
► Depress the trigger switch.
Make sure it moves freely and springs back
into place when released.
► Insert the battery.
► Hold the shredder vac firmly with one hand on
the control handle and with the other hand
firmly on the loop handle. Squeeze the trigger
switch with your index finger.
The shredder vac should switch on. If it does
not, take the shredder vac to an authorized
STIHL servicing dealer to be repaired before
use.
► Release the trigger switch.

The shredder vac should switch off.
If the shredder vac does not switch off after
you release the trigger switch, remove the bat‐
tery and take the shredder vac to an author‐
ized STIHL servicing dealer to be repaired
before use.
15.2
Checking Wear Mark
Before starting work, check the nozzle and hous‐
ing for excessive wear.
To check the nozzle:
► Switch off the shredder vac,
► Remove the battery,
► Check the nozzle for the wear mark (1).
► If the wear mark is no longer visible: Do not
use the shredder vac. Take it to an authorized
STIHL servicing dealer to have the nozzle
replaced before use.
To check the housing:

► Switch off the shredder vac,
► Remove the battery,
► Remove the suction tube,
► Check the wear insert (1).
► If the wear insert is excessively worn or dam‐
aged: Do not use the shredder vac. Take it to
an authorized STIHL servicing dealer to have
the wear ring replaced before use.
