DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCT AND USE:
3.1
Technical and operating characteristics:
The submersible motor is a particular type of asynchronous motor specifically designed for driving submersible pumps.
The motor turns in the anti-clockwise direction, viewed from the overhang side.
Submersible motors type 6÷10 CS-R are supplied filled with a mixture of 70% clean fresh water and 30% Dowcal N type Propylene Glycol from
DowChemical, classifiabile as non-hazardous according to the criteria established by the EEC.
At the time the motor is installed, the mixture can be replaced by clean and filtered fresh water. Never use distilled water (consult the section entitled
'Preliminary inspections' for the relative procedure).
WARNING When the motor is installed in compliance with the instructions in this manual and the indications given in the diagrams, the acoustic
pressure level issued by the machine within the envisaged operating range will never reach 70 dB (A). The noise level was measured in accordance
with ISO 3746 standards with measuring points, as established by Directive 2006/42/EC, 1 m from the reference surface of the machine and at a
height of 1.6 m from the ground or from the access platform.
The maximum value is evenly distributed around the product.
3.2
Fields of use:
The standard version of the motor has been designed for pumping clear fresh water from deep wells, storage tanks or through pressure boosting
(not oil-bath motors).
3.3
Improper uses: WARNING
The motors are not designed for:
- non-submersible operation;
- installation in a slanting position;
- continuous service when the speed of the water outside the motor jacket is less than the values in Tab. "Technical data, dimensions and weights".
- excessively intermittent operation (consult the 'Motor table' in the chapter entitled 'Dimensions, weights and technical data');
- liquid at a temperature above 25 to 30°C (77 to 86°F) (consult the 'Motor table' in chapter 10 'Dimensions, weights and technical data');
- operation at a depth exceeding 150 m;
- pumping inflammable liquids;
- operation in places where there is a classified risk of explosion.
Not all motors are suitable for:
- installation in the horizontal position (consult the specific technical documentation);
- storage at very low temperatures (consult chapter 4 'Handling and storage').
- installation in boosters.
In case of tilted installation, contact directly Calpeda Spa.
Also make sure that the product conforms to any pertinent local restrictions.
4
STORAGE AND HANDLING:
Store the product in a dry, dust-free place.
Make sure that the motor and all the other components forming the installation are positioned correctly and are completely stable.
Motors type 6÷10 CS-R :
- periodically check that the motor is completely filled if stored horizontally;
- if the motor must be temporarily stored in a place where the temperature is less than -15°C, the concentration of Propylene Glycol must be
increased (e.g. 50% concentration, minimum temperature -35°C. The relative procedure is described in section 5.1 'Preliminary inspections').
Do not leave the motor without fluid inside or the rotor could block.
WARNING
The motor must be handled with care and circumspection using suitable lifting means and harness that comply with the safety
standards.
The weights of each motor are given in the chapter on 'Dimensions, weights and technical data'.
Never use the electric power cables to move the motor.
When the motor is positioned vertically, take care to ensure that the cables are not sharply bent (the minimum radius of curvature
must be more than 5 times the diameter of the cable).The free ends of the cables must never be immersed or wetted in any way.
5
ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION:
Do not discard the packaging materials in the environment. Comply with the local laws governing disposal and pollution abatement.
5.1
Preliminary inspections:
WARNING Always check to make sure that the rotors turn freely and that motors size
6÷10 CS-R are completely filled with fluid, by performing the following operations.
1) motors 6÷10 CS-R: unscrew the fluid fill plug on the motor (the one with the hexagon socket head). Unscrew the temperature probe when this is
installed instead of the plug;
2) make sure that filling is complete. If necessary, add clean fresh water or a mixture with the concentration given in the section on 'Technical and
operating specifications'
3) screw the plug back on;
4)
fasten the motor in the vertical position and make sure that it is stable. Wrap something around the end of the drive shaft
to prevent it from being damaged then, using a pair of pliers, make sure that the rotor turns smoothly;
